Bus route help

As I'm moving to Galway in a couple of weeks and don't know anything about the various bus routes operating throughout the city, I'd appreciate it if you guys could tell me the quickest way of getting between the 2 points marked "x" on the attached map.

I'm not sure if there is a direct bust route there. Your best bet would be to get a bus into town at eyre square which goes every ten mins and then get a bus there, either the ballybane or Castle park bus...

Do the buses going to both Ballybane and Castle Park go along the Tuam Road, and how frequent are they?Also,do you know how much a weekly student bus pass costs?

There is no frequent route going that way. (But i believe one route occassionally travel on the Tuam Road). Unless it's unavoidable, i'd walk/cycle it. I lived on Mary's Road and worked in Liosban on the Tuam road. And the bike was fine.

You'd have to walk from A to B which is a mile long. From B to C you can get a bus (but it's less than a kilometre). And then stroll again from C to D.

Cheers for that!However,isn't it also possible to get a bus from A to B and then a connecting bus from B to C? Investing in a bike is the probably the best option though.

Unfortunately A to B is lanes, canals and cobblestones. On the plus side it's one of my favorite strolls in the city.

If you are set on getting a bus into town (bad weather etc.) from where you set off, this bus is the one that runs closest (Salthill). No bus shelter there though, as far as I know, but there are some trees.

Yup, route 3, and a very few of the route 5e, are the story for Tuam Rd to the city.

At the other end, it's a toss-up between the 1s/1d, or perhaps the 2w/2d which go to the other end of St Mary's Rd, or even the 33 which goes up Henry St. None of these have particularly frequent services: the 2w/d is probably best but would give the longest walk at the Mary's Rd end.

OP, I've just updated the city-service fares page with details of monthly and weekly student passes (introduced with the least publicity imaginable in June 2010).

Or if you're going to bike it and only use the bike on bad days (which is what I'd recommend, TBH, given the frequency of the routes you'd be using) you might like to know about the Day Saver pass (also on the fares page).
