I've lost the ability to dress myself!

OK, I know it sounds very dramatic but I'm only 35 and seem to have lost the ability to put an outfit together.
I have spent the last few years at home with small children and just live in jeans and t shirts because of the ease of maintenance. Now im coming to the stage where the puking has almost ended and want to overhaul my wardrobe. Where do I start.
It doesn't help that Im not overly impressed with the fashion trends at the minute. Those large rose print leggings are horiffic. They don't look good on anyone!
Has anyone used a personal shopper? How would they rate the experience? Are you obliged to buy clothes or is it fee based? Do personal shoppers just put their own style on you or do they listen to your opinions and take your body shape into account.
    Any advice welcome.
Also just to add I don't have much time to shop on my own - always have kids in tow and ends in tears. Mine usually :P

Hi :) my mum is 45 and she kind of felt the same! She went to Next and they have a fab personal shopper service! It wasn't fee based and she didn't feel pushed to buy anything but she did because they put some fab outfits together :)

I went to the dundrum town centre personal shopper and found her good. She cost E55 (think most inhouse p.s.'s are free), but she knew her stuff and we were able to cover all the shops in the centre.

You also got a voucher for a make up thingy in BT 2 I think it was.

She picked out a couple of outfits that were really nice, and there was no obligation to buy.

I'd like to go to another one, but not sure where....

Debenhams have a great personal shopper too. My mam did it and thought it was great. I went with her and the lady who did it was really smart and really listened to what my mam was looking for.

I have been to both & preferred the Dundrum one myself...I think the debenhams works better if you're looking for a particular outfit rather than a wardrobe overhaul.
I must check out the Next one.

Ha my mother did both too and preferred the Debenhams one. Felt the Dundrum one was trying to put her in fashionable stuff as opposed to stuff that suited her.
