Suzuki Jimny. Any good?

I'm thinking of buying a suzuki jimny as a shooting vehicle and for bringing the dog around. I know there small but it would just be me and the dog, i was thinking of taking out the backseat altogether. I wont be commuting anywhere in it, longest journey would be twenty miles.
I was wondering are they reliable and what to look out for when buying?

Hi, I've had a couple, totally reliable, tough, fun, capable on rough ground, I used to fold up the back seats, that left a platform for my 2 terriers to sit on. I now have a Vitara, will probably go to a Jimny when I retire. Best wishes.

+1 on above, I have a 06 vitara for deer stalking very reliable punches way above it's weight in terms of offroad ability, its not in the defender class but its never let me down. A bit basic and plasticy but its ideal for shooting and it's easy on the tax

Jimnys are phenomenal off-roaders, tend to skate over stuff Defenders have to cut through. As long as you don't want to tow a lot or drive long distances, Jimnys have a good reputation. Good spares and upgrade support from specialists in the UK as well.

Turns it into a real doggy wagon. Unfortunately not cheap and not to be had in Ireland (at least not at the time I got mine some years ago)

Thanks guys. I have just bought a jimny, I will be getting it in the next few days. I see the above accessories can be got fro suzuki uk. Not sure whether I could get them delivered to Ireland but I plan on getting them.

Would they pull a small trailer handy enough ?

kermitpwee , how much did you get one for ? Any pics ?

might not be a bad idea to remove the rear seat belts between tests ,if a dog or dogs are to be carried in the back

Never had a towbar on mine, so don't really know. But they're rated for 1300 kg braked, which isn't bad considering they tip the scales at 1150 kg or so.
