I have been to Amsterdam 7/8 times, and I think it's well worth a trip, it's beautiful, and lot's of cool things to do as well as the obvious......however Electric picnic has a really cool line-up.
Since I was never at Electric Picnic before and been to the dam, i'd go to E.P and then book really cheap flights + accomodation for Amsterdam for a later date. (I got return flights for 30 quid once.)

If you go to Amsterdam, you gotta rent a bike.....it's like an extreme sport when you're 'under the weather'

    Camper Van = EP

tent etc, no thanks, I'd rather a nice hostel in the Dam.

Hmm. Personally, much as i'd love to go to EP,i'd also love a weekend away...so i'd have to go with Amsterdam.

For crying out loud, I can't believe this is even up for discussion.

OP, going to Amsterdam will give you more than just an enjoyable holiday. You'll get to experience another culture, try new food, mix with the locals of another society....all this is better than running around the woods with a bunch of Irish scumbags with no sense of anything...

You can go to Amsterdam any weekend, EP you can't. I'd go to EP and then Amsterdam a few weeks later when you've the cash for it.

If you are on welfare then you shouldn't be able to afford to go to either!

I reckon Electric Picnic to be the most fun that I can have in Ireland. Amsterdam... meh. I wasn't that into it. Easy choice for me.

If that's the case then the Dam would be a better place to release all that built up stress ;)

Amsterdam is many things to many people, I appreciate the sense of calm and normality that one gets in a coffee shop along with the right to choose, that freedom is priceless, it has a healing effect and confirms how right you are to be there.
I booked my ticket last week :D
