    To be honest I was never into the Office. Didn't get it, think it's vastly overrated. I watched all of Extras and quite liked that.

    I've seen a couple of his films, woeful.

    Have seen his standup show on tv, actually thought it was quite good.

    Also I love the Ricky Gervais Show but that's all down to Karl Pilkington. I don't think Ricky Gervais has ever said one funny thing in that show.

    Gervais is so unfunny especially when on Jonathon Ross . As for The Office, doesnt even hold a candle to Father Ted.

    Sorry Mods but why is a thread like this not locked after the pervious debates on personal abuse. The title of the thread leads us to believe that the OP is going to offer reasons why he doesnt find Ricky Gervais funny yet all he can come up with is calling him a "twat".

    It's not personal abuse to say that Gervais is a twat. It's a fact.

    I love the office, but i dislike his standup. He's still much better than the dumbed down comedy you get from most stand ups these days

    I've seen all of all but 3 of those, they are most certainly not shíte.

    The Office and Extras can be added to that list, and you have the best comedy shows of the last 10 years. Simple. I understand that opinions differ beyond that.

    It's weird, I love The Office and Extras, and Gervais in them, but I don't like him as himself. Not sure why.

    If we can insult celebs on AH then we should also be allowed insult other posters, thats my main issue.

    Also it was a pointless post by the OP. He made no case whats-so-ever as to why he doesnt think Ricky Gervais is funny.

    He is a genius. Theres always two groups of people when it comes to Ricky Gervais. People who understand that severe piss taking comedy is an art form, and people who think hes genuinely full of himself and needs to be takin down a peg or two! :rolleyes:

    To see a guy get up in front of a audience of Hollywood heavy hitters and take pot shots at them about sensitive issues in their lives is a great thing.:D

    No. Steve Carrell is an excellent actor. Ricky Gervais is useless. Let's be honest, there are very, very few good comedians in the UK/Ireland.

    I've got great respect for the guy, he went out there and did what he wanted to do and succeeded.
    I like his stand up, never really watch the Office or any of his shows.

    The films he is now making are absolutely terrible though, woefully bad.
    The Invention of Lying was one of the worst films I have ever seen and I've seen a lot of films.

    Tbh, he is funnier than a lot of the shit out there.
    It's just that American audiences generally aren't cultured and he wants to appeal to them.
    Think he is just getting lazy at this stage.

    But in the UK Office everyone hates David Brent, and there's a reason; he's not a nice person. At all. In the US Office, everyone hates Michael Scott, but he's played by Steve Carrell, one of the most likeable people ever, so I just don't see why everyone hates him.

    That's my main gripe.

    After that, I just find the UK so much more funny. Fits in with my sense of humour more.

    Somebody mentioned scrubs?

    I hate the show. Theres a trying too hard vibe off it. Kind of like how the Simpsons are these days. That nerdy duet (the black & white guy) is annoying not funny. Especially the goofy white guy...his squeaky,girly voice is dumb. The incredibly irritating music throughout the programme & the constant flashbacks just make me switch over to another channel the instant i hear that opening song.

    The original Office - comedy gold
    Alan Partridge - comedy gold
    Extras - good but not great.
    Peepshow - excellent
    Curb Y E - annoying music but a great show & the only decent american comedy i can think of!

    I do think Ricky gervais is & will continue to ride on the Office wave. He peaked 10 years ago, how can you improve on a comedy that gained legendary status the minute it was over?
    Have to say his stand-up is very average.

    He's the man that will always be remembered as David Brent so its difficult for me to say he's not funny.

    Not a fan of Ricky Gervais at all.

    Watched a couple of episodes of the Office and really failed to see what all the fuss was abou.

    Watched him on Alan Carr aswell, and didnt find him amusing in the slightest.

    But each to their own I suppose

    I've never really been a fan of his stand-up & haven't really seen to much of Extras, but I would never slate the man who played David Brent, The Office UK is probably one of my favorite comedies of all time.
