Islam still can't and that will lead to some form of trouble in that foster house if the kid decides Islam is not for them

Considering that Foster Parent involved has said the exact opposite, I think it fair to say your talking some right bollox.

indeed, all religion is. but Islam is still very anti other religions whereas catholicism has managed to tone that down over the centuries, to a level where they can freely accept other religions, Islam still can't and that will lead to some form of trouble in that foster house if the kid decides Islam is not for them

    * goes to search for tarring brush big enough

I think you need some form of adapted crop duster......

I made no such claim, but I am talking about the here and now, and not the past.

You did say "When they start to do this to others...", implying such a decision hasn't already happened.

I have no idea either way, but you seem happy to trot out the following nonsense in regards to this Woman:

So, sure I taught I should give it a go as well.

It's a valid point and there's nothing wrong with being the Devil's advocate in such a thread for the sake of equal representation of both sides of a debate.

Its in the Old testament (The Bible is made up of both New and Old Testaments), and I am referring to the following:

    (above emphasis mine)

Notice btw, I never said that all Christians and Jews believe this should be carried out to this day, but the passages are there in the Bible either way.

Seems to be about false prophets rather than just plain old apostacy though Wes.

False prophets. Says nothing about the penalty of death for your average believer, either then or now. Notice how it specifically mentions that the prophet who leads people away should be put to death, not that everyone who followed that false prophet should also be put to death.

Well, fair point, but you should be aware of Moses killing quite a few of those who worshipped the Golden Calf:
    Exodus 32:25-29 (New International Version)

25 Moses saw that the people were running wild and that Aaron had let them get out of control and so become a laughingstock to their enemies. 26 So he stood at the entrance to the camp and said, "Whoever is for the LORD, come to me." And all the Levites rallied to him.

27 Then he said to them, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.' " 28 The Levites did as Moses commanded, and that day about three thousand of the people died. 29 Then Moses said, "You have been set apart to the LORD today, for you were against your own sons and brothers, and he has blessed you this day."

As I stated earlier not all Christians or Jews, think this sort of thing should be done nowadays, but it is still nonetheless in the Bible.

Ok, but that isn't a whole lot better.

Well, its seems that the basis of the decision is due to her not serving Pork as per the OP. So again you are talking bollox.

Ok, so Jewish Foster parents are being rejected due to them not serving Pork, and as such I totatally condemn any such decisions.

I wasn't aware that if Moses jumped off a cliff I should too. Again, not an instruction to Jews or Christians that people should always be put to death for turning away from their beliefs.

Great, and some Christians and Jews would say otherwise. The fact remains that killing Apostates, is in the Bible, and people have various interpretations of that, which btw I said earlier:

So, as you can clearly see from the post you replied to, I already stated that not all Christians and Jews believe apsostates should be killed nowadays. Please do read my entire post.

It's forcing the child to abstain from pork in the house he lives in.

Could you link this clause in the Bible? In particularly to the relevant New Testament section please?

    Old testament surely?
I think Ned Flanders said it best " I do everything in the bible, I even do the stuff that contradicts the other stuff"

I can't think of a single Christian grouping which advocates death for people who leave the faith.

Which would be no different than Vegitarians not serving meat for example, so unless the Women follows the child around preventing them from eating Pork, then you are also talking bollox.

Here's an idea, bear with me for a second:

    Drumroll...

What if all religions were banned?

Any religion that bans rasher sangwidges is hopelessly backward

but the ban on pork is due to religion reasons, not to do with health or any other reason for being a veggie

You have no right to tell me I'm talking bollox.

You're also putting words in my mouth. I have no problem with vegetarians fostering kids so long as they don't ban the kids from eating meat.

I would also have no problem with muslims fostering kids so long as they didn't force any aspects of muslim society on them, such as forcing them not to eat pork.

So? Lots of vegetarians have moral reasons for not eating meat, so again I see no real difference, and once again you are talking bollox.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 664 ✭✭✭craggles

Why do you feel the need to tell everyone they're talking bollox? You are above no one in this thread.
