Got recognised after posting in KYN, recieved a PM from the very fella who took the photo!

Dont really like it tbh, posted a lot of nonsense here I wouldn't like to be quoted on

Nope but I have recognized someone on here, from a really random story they told in a thread and then looking at the username and location it was obvious (Sherlock Holmes eat your heart out ;)). Never told them though as I don't think they would have liked me knowing it was them as they had talked about some personal stuff.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 9,425 ✭✭✭FearDark

I know 3 or 4 people from the KYN and lookalikes thread but I'd never say it to them, theyd think I was a stalker or something. Plus I dont want people to know who I am because Im a right keyboard warrior/bastárd on boards :p

    Who are you?

everyone knows me. i'm boards.ie's one true legend.
    Rozie?

I've been recognised a few times. Most recently by my new GP when we first met. He didn't mention boards, but it's not too difficult to find my full name, and my location is there for all to see.
I just knew from his reaction. It was "Ahh, Terry. Nice to finally meet you. I mean, nice to meet you".
He had the LTI forum open, but quickly closed it before I could see his user name. He'd be about the same age as me.

A few people around the town have said things to me. I've heard a few mutterings in various pubs around the town too.

Aside from that, I occasionally get a couple of drinks bought for me in my local by the old bar flies who have Facebook accounts. Apparently they get great amusement from the banter between me and a friend because we constantly take the piss out of others and ourselves.

Yes. I think my first post gave away my identity but I don't care.

    I'm Benedict Lava.

No - I've never recognised, but I wouldn't be at all bothered if I was. I haven't said anything here that I wouldn't say in real life.

    I'm definitely me!

I guess if you're going to have an opinion then you should be able to say it as yourself, without hiding behind a username.

I can see the benefits of anonymity in areas like "Personal Issues" or "Relationship Issues" alright, but other than that it's kinda cowardly.

No one knows me thanks to god and as I live about 10 mils from any member off the human race so I feel safe and sound. :D

Here's the thing; I don't normally walk around naked when I leave my house. That was a one off.
On the other hand, Dr.Bollocko also posed naked for boards, and I know for a fact that he regularly walks around Galway without any clothes on.
Then again, Galway city does pride itself on its Bohemian culture, so this is quite the norm in the West.

Amsterdam must be full of moderators

There are one or two people who I'd rather didn't recognise me, but I'd say people who are close to me would know who I am. I've often mentioned things I've posted on Boards so if somebody felt like it, they could find me easily enough. That wouldn't bother me, but I'd think it weird if somebody did find me on Boards and then not tell me. Freaky weird thing to do!

Also, as I've said before, if you ever log on in work, your IT people probably know who you are.

Whether they care or not is a whole other question.

I think you're confusing Moderators with Prostitutes.
Mods don't get paid. Hookers do.

In saying that, the annual mod holiday is next month. We're all off to Amsterdam, and boards.ie Ltd. are paying for the hookers.

Each Yellow card issued by you entitles you to a hand job.
Red cards issued by you get you a BJ.
    Bans get you full sex.
Yellow card and a ban gets you a hand job followed by sex.
Red cards and a ban gets you a BJ followed by sex.
Permanent forum bans get you a threesome.
If you're the ninth person to Red card someone within two weeks, which results in said person being temporarily site banned, you get Two hookers for 24 hours.

It's going to be a good holiday.

You choose to use your own name as a user name & that's fine, but there are many reasons why most people - including myself - choose to remain anonymous & I would wager my house that "cowardice" isn't one of them.

The mods will, but remember that they do have the internet in Amsterdam.
One forum mod must be monitoring their forum while the other mods are with the hookers. The one who has 24 hours with a hooker is excused for the day. :)

Well I already know several Boards users in real life. Also there was a huge thread in the Waterford City forum about the company I worked for going into examinership/receivership and several people I worked with recognised me by my posts in that thread. I'm not bothered to be honest. I understand why some people want to remain anonymous but I don't care.

Careful... A cereal killer doesn't come for you. You could have pushed somewhere over the edge with your posts on the politics forum. There could be a dreanged FF loyalist plotting your demise somewhere in Ireland. :pac:

I posted something about a particular person on the "Stingy things stingy people do" thread and that person recognised ME from the post but didn't recognise themselves!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58,456 ✭✭✭✭ibarelycare

Yeah I was recognised by someone who I was in college with who spotted me in the KYN thread. I also happen to get talking to someone over PM who I found out was friends with my sister, now the two of us are good friends!

I realised I knew someone by accident from what they posted on boards, it was really personal stuff so won't say how because if they read it they'd probably realise. Don't know if they know I'm on here though.
