Last time those meteors came, we thought the sky was on fire. Naturally, we blamed the Irish. We hanged more than a few.

It's clear enough over Kilkenny and to the North/North East but which area of the clearness should I concentrate on? I'm getting dizzy trying to scan 360 degrees.

Just saw big fire ball going across the sky. Thought at 1st was a plane til it passed closer to my direction and then it went out. Hueston Station area you can see a good bit of space.

    BBC2 anyone??

Towards the Northeast is best, but as they fly across the sky, it is a good idea to scan around. If you can, get a chair or even a sun lounger and lie down and look up. You'll see more and save your neck strain. :) Check the "Astronomy and Space" forum, under Science. There is lots about the meteor shower there. We are past the peak now, but there'll still be some to see over the coming nights. A meteor shower is never a one night show. People have been seeing them over the past few nights, myself included.

Saw one last Saturday night and was with a New Yorker who saw the first falling star in her entire life. I always remember my gran when I see one as she used to say they were a soul going straight to heaven and I like to think she is looking down on me now that shes up there.

There is a very thin misty haze here, not thick enough to block out the stars though. It is ensuring it is not one of those crystal clear nights and together with the light pollution around here, it adds an extra difficulty. I saw a couple, so that is something but disappointing. I saw more a couple of nights ago. The weather may hold up over the weekend, so keep looking over the next couple of nights.
