A SWEDISH motorist faced the world's biggest speeding fine after being caught driving at 180mph on a Swiss motorway.

The 37-year-old man could have to pay a £650,000 penalty.
The fine uses a Swiss law which takes into account how wealthy the driver is and how fast they are going.
According to prosecutors, he could be hit with the highest possible fine of 300 days of penalties at £2,166 a day - a total of £650,000.
A police spokesman said: "We have no record of anyone being caught traveling faster in the country."
The man was caught by a speed camera on the A12 highway between Bern and Lausanne on Friday.
He had reportedly escaped being snapped by numerous other cameras because they were incapable of clocking speeds beyond 125mph.
A police officer in the region where the six-litre Mercedes SLS was stopped said: "He needed over half-a-kilometer of road to come to a halt."

Do the Swiss have it right to fine drivers on there wealth rather then a €100 slap on the wrist

Or is the PenaltyPoint system enough to deter speeding
