Man this depresses me, I paid €800 for my 32" Philips lcd in tesco 3 or 4 years ago, stupid cheaper technology :(

I paid €630 for a new 5605 model philips 32 inch lcd last month. So it might have led backlighting, huge contrast ratio, MPEG4 tuner, 100hz etc but for €250 that Toshiba is a bargain.

I picked up a nice 22" Samsung TV to use as a monitor last week, I think it was €170, €199 with 10% off, really can't fault it, I've hooked up my PC, sky box and PS3, games and movies all play fine on it. I was there for about 20 minutes trying to decide which ones to get, I didn't get the Toshiba 32" cause it didn't have a DVI input, but there was a 23" Samsung for €259 that looked great, I couldn't justify €90 for an inch and higher resolution :(

Checked in Tesco Galway city. Couldnt see any 32" Toshiba. There was a 32" technika TV with DVD combi for €300. 3 year warranty too. Might be worth a gamble.

Was in Tesco Wilton in Cork this morning, no sign of a 32" toshiba for €250 either, they did have a "technika" 32" hd ready for €330, and a slightly better looking "technika" for €400, none of those two bargains anyway...

Oh, and could almost guarantee that a toshiba 32" wont be mpeg4 DTT compatible...

not important if you have get TV via SKY or UPC or set top box

also it should have a CAM slot so you could add mpeg4 decoder later on

Also we won't know for certain if ANY devices will work 100% with the new system till it goes live in September

I got a 37" Toshiba in Tesco a year ago for €400, and has a CAM slot alright so there's a good chance these will too.
