o2 Insurance

I moved to o2 there last week on bill pay. I have an unlocked 32GB iPhone 4 and am looking to insure it.

The guy in the shop said it was €12.99 and covered pretty much everything the warranty doesn't. However on the o2 website, it says that there are two bands of insurance, one for €6 and one for €9. It then says for iPhone insurance you just need to get the phonecover extra (€9). bit confused as to which is correct, and I assume that by insuring an unlocked phone if Ii ever need to claim I will get the same thing back?

This is what it says on the website
    Insurance for iPhone customers
New Bill pay customers can insure their phones when buying online. Existing Bill pay or Prepay customers who wish to purchase Phonecover Extra can apply in store or download an application form for insurance below.

    Help appreciated

The iPhone 4 has its own insurance band that was introduced a couple of weeks ago. €12.99, every other phone fits into one of the 2 other bands.

    pah, whats your excess?

If its €350 is not comparable to phonecover, phonecover costs €155 for the iphone 4 for a year, with a new excess of i think €75, so should you need a new phone, your better off with phonecover whick will have set you back 75+155=€230 compared to the €350 excess on your house insurance! just my 2 cents.

having said that what valu did you put on the iphone 4 on your household? did you need a reciept for same?

I have had existing insurance with ye for over a year. I asked if my insurance was still covering my iPhone 4 and I was told yes both in store and through 1909. No mention of a price increase. Does this affect all customers or just new ones?

bit steep IMO but if it'll give me a factory unlocked unit like the one I have then I'd do it in a flash. Will it?

Unlocking has nothing to do with insurance obviously, but there are ways to get your phone unlocked legitimately.

Here's a, possibly silly question. I've recently got the iphone 4...however, the 3Gs that I had before it had that crack by the charging port and also a slight fault in that audible interference was a lot louder than it should be. Can I claim on that 3Gs? or in the eyes of 02 is tht phone now redundant and I'm entitled to nothing?

it does ye, i didn't buy my iphone 4 from o2, i got it straight from apple, if i insure it i want the same again, not something that is locked, or has to be unlocked

I thought I read on the o2 forum that it's 14.99 pm for the 32gb

Daryll, I've asked twice now and still no answer.

If I claim, will I be issued with a locked or unlocked iPhone? considering my current one is factory unlocked from Apple.
