Good: Multicultural Melting Pot. Lots to do and see.
    Generally tolerant, decent people.

Bad: Level of aggro on a night out is shocking...if you acted like a lot of Brits do when on the sauce you'd be a pariah over here.
    Weather.

    Good:
The accents, except the 'Upper Class' accent, that wrecks my head.
    Man United.
    Generally sound people.

    Bad:
Bar staff, they are as depressing as fook and terribly slow.
Most Irish PL supporters over there for a weekend, they'd fcuking wreck your head after a game in the hotel, especially the knackers.

Good: Fairly liberal drinking laws. Good public transport.
Bad: Although the service is good, the transport can be rather expensive.

That would be a bad thing about Ireland, not England.

Of course it is. 'Sent to Coventry' is about us!

    Good stuff-

-Cost of living is ridiculously lower: I could fill a trolley to the brim in Tesco for around £40, £2 for rum and coke, rent was cheaper and got a much nicer gaff than I ever would've been able to afford here.

-The people, overall, are very friendly, funny (in a very similar self-deprecating way to ourselves actually) and my neighbours at least bent over backwards to help out and welcome me.

-Public transport is spot on, buses every .025 seconds, trains always on time, generally cheap, and fast (Manchester to London in 2 hours). Buses don't just stop when it gets dark. And if all else fails taxis are waaay cheaper.

-Some breathtaking scenery- the lake district, the North York moors, Land's End and most of the South-west coast, the Pennines between Manchester and Leeds, I could go on all day really. Of course it seems overcrowded if you fly into one of the cities on a weekend piss-up.

-It's a million times easier to get to know people when you're new, in Mancunia anyway people in bars and at gigs seem more receptive to outsiders
and generally have a carefree, here for a good time and not to sit judging everyone else attitude.

-Despite being far from flawless, some of the state facilities and initiatives, like the NHS and the masses of opportunities for young and/or people in disadvantaged communities are very good.

    Bad stuff-

-Despite the majority of people being lovely, there's still an obvious element of anti-Irish, anti-Islamic, anti-anyone who's not white and British, and a lot of them will give you a hiding without a second's thought if you happen to be different to them. Unfortunately the BNP scum are doing better now than ever before, so more of that shít might start to emerge again.

-If you're not lucky enough to find a decent job, you'll either end up working for half nothing (I mean half nothing, their minimum wage is a lot lower than ours) or being led up the garden path by one of a multitude of 'marketing companies', who employ inexperienced people (mainly students after graduating) and never pay them a penny through all kinds of loopholes.

-99% of the Daily Mail propagandising is just that, however, when you do come across a ghetto you fúcking know you're in one. A couple of places I saw would make Ballymun look like a wealthy suburb.

Overall, it's a great country, I have no problem with it and never have. Blaming and holding grudges against the English for colonisation is no better or no more logical than holding it against the Germans for WWII. They have racist anti-Irish bigots and we have racist anti-English bigots. I wish they'd all get over themselves and fúcking coexist, life's too short. Remember there's a difference between being anti-imperialist (which I most certainly am) and anti-English. If you think the majority of them are Queen loving Thatcherites, you'd be massively disappointed.

We have plenty of them here anyway, this forum in particular. Theres no point in judging all English people on one section of the population.
