I'm assuming there's a difference in the level of training between the painters working in a bodyshop and the panel beaters, or paintless dent removers. What's the difference between the 2 jobs - training length, etc.? How would one go about getting trained in panel beating?

There is no distinction in Ireland. You train as both a painter and pannel beater. Over time with certain employers you may come to specialise in one or the other but thats usually only in larger garages. The only real way of training in Ireland is through a Fas apprentice ship. You need to find an employer that is willing to take you on a register with Fas. Tge whole process takes 4 years, all of which your payed. Check the Fas website http://www.fas.ie/en/Training/Apprenticeships/default.htm
