We're planning to get married Summer 2011 and I'm finding deciding on a Wedding venue very stressful. We have narrowed it down to the Marybouragh Hotel or Rochestown Park. We are expecting about 200 guests. I have atended Weddings at both Hotels and they were both beautiful. I'm hoping that you will help me make up my mind.

The food was great in both Hotels. I really liked the Marque in the Marybouragh but the new bar area in the Rochestown is lovely.

I've heard that they are very strict in Marybouragh about the residents bar and as we are both fairly local a lot of our friends wouldn't be staying over.
I've also heard that Rochestown are likely to have 2/3 wedding on the same day?

All advice would be greatly wecome!!

I worked in both hotels and attended wedding in both hotels as a guest.
My brother got married in the Maryborough a few years ago and it was a fantastic day.
I think the RPH might just win for me because its abigger hotel and they have only renovated part of the hotel recently and its looks beautiful.

I have not had any experience with either. It comes across that you would be happy with either.
What I would suggest is that you set up a meeting with the wedding person at both hotels and see how you get on with them and also on how much either will cost.
Question in the M about the residents bar.
Negotiate on price with both or on extras thrown in etc.
Perhaps if there is a big enough cost difference that might be the decider for u, it would be for me,

Also consider what deal they do for guests staying over as to me this is important.

I have worked in The Maryborough & the Rochestown Park on many occasions. Staff & food are excellent. On a Summers day the garden in the Maryborough is great for guests.Children have room to run around.Parents can relax. As mentioned, the bar area in the Rochestown park is really well done.Lots of room there also.
