HDTV for playing PS3 - Opinions!!

Ok so i am looking to upgrade to a 32" HDTV for playing my Ps3 and have spotted a couple that are around my price range and seem suitable for what i need.

The first one is an AOC 32" HD Ready TV which I seen on display in Xtra-vsison the other day. It looks the business and i seen on DID Electrical its €20 cheaper @ €329 with free delivery.

The other one i was looking at was from Power City nad is a Walker 32" HD ready TV which is 30 quid cheaper than the AOC @ €299.

Now i know these may not be well known brands, but i'm just wondering if anyone has any of these TV's themselves, if so are they worth getting?

Also if anyine could recommend any other TVs around the same price and size it would be great.

Personally I'd spend a couple of extra quid and get something like the Samsung LE32C450 which should be available for around €350 + delivery online. You may even be able to find it at home for around the same price sans the delivery cost.

If anyone is looking for a cheap full HD TV, I was looking in the Argos catalogue last night and they're selling a 24 inch full HD Bush TV for €220 which I thought was a brilliant price. Gonna pick one up later in the week.

I personally wouldn't buy a brand outside of Sony, LG, Samsung, Panasonic and maybe Phillips.

Toshiba and Sharp ain't bad either, but those little known brands, it seems the less sharp they looks and the less time they'll stay alive. Power City should have some good deals on decent brands and you can see the clarity of them side by side and compare.

I personally would take my[my friend's] ps3+HDMI cable and TEST the TV myself... the ps3 might be powerful - but it wont make ur TV display the image as intended, same goes to teh brand

I picked up an AOC 32" from xtra vision a while back, it doesn't look as stylish as the one you posted but it was 325e marked from 375e. It looks great in 1080p

Hey i bought a walker tv about 3 years ago and have had no bother with it. I think it's a 38" and all my ps3 game's look brill on it. the parts for walker tv's are the same one's used in mitsubishi

I seen this last week alright. But i know that if i got this now, that 6 months down the line i'd be looking for a bogger TV again, so i wanna get the 32" now.

Thanks for that, i was reading that Walker TV's used to be Black diamond but trade under the new name now for some reason. BD always seemed to be pretty good TV's so maybe it's the same with these.

I have a phillips 40inch LED and can't fault the picture, PS3 looks amazing. I will probably get a seperate sound system at some stage but thats just me being picky as the tv itself is producing perfectly good sound as it is

mind you this tv took a serious chunk of my savings, was €950

Would it be worth spending the extra bucks for a Full 1080p HDTV, or would you notice much of a difference when gaming?
It's just i spotted a 32" Full HDTV on DID for €429 and just got me curious!

Any size under 30" there is not much point in getting a full HD TV, but over 30" the difference can been seen. if you're only playing games it might not be worth it as most games are only 702p(HD ready) or below. if you'll use it for any HD blu ray movies or such then get full HD.

I have a HD ready 720 TV. Would I need the HDMI cable to get the HD features or does the AV cable that come with the PS3 already do that? Just wondering about watching blu-ray discs, also. Not sure if I'd have to get a HDMI cable to get the full picture quality.

You don't need a HDMI cable, but you should get one as it gives a much better picture.

Im pretty sure I read somewhere that most HD tvs are made with the same LCD screens in the same production warehouses, apart from Samsung and Sony I think. So maybe thats something to consider, dont be fooled into certain brands like.

Completely incorrect. Five minutes in any electronics store will show you the vastly different standards of picture quality in various TVs.

It all depends on the price range to be honest, at the high end the Sony line is pretty impressive but in the midrange, Samsung have the edge. Then again, if you're looking at the high end, there's the Panasonic G20s to drool over.

Samsung are better then Sony imo. btw I would recommend 19-22" lcd for gaming.

I've already commented on the price range dictating what brand you should be looking at but as for the size of the TV, that will ideally depend on how far away you'll be sitting from it. If the OP is looking for a 32" then it's probably because he's going to be sitting on a couch a few feet away from it. A small LCD would only be suitable if you were sitting right in front of it at a desk.

the Sony, it seems to have much more features that the other. it also has very good blacks.

Judging by their bigger brothers (the Samsung C650 and Sony 403), the Samsung will have the better picture quality but the Sony will have the better sound. The Sony also has the extra HDMI cable which may or may not be an issue for you.

Best advice is to go to an electronics store, preferably a decent one, and try both of them out, both on TV and ask them to hook up a console to them. That will give you the best impression of them.

Note: Do bear in mind that the Samsung is actually €499.95 whereas the Sony is €579.95 unless you're trading in a TV to get the €80 off.

Well I currently have a 19" LCD TV, that's the reason i wanna upgrade to 32". No point gettin anything smaller now as i will only regret it in 6 months time and want a bigger one anyway.

I think i have settled on this one now anyway, seems to do the job for me.
