    Lo all.
i searched but didnt see this issue. but i have a vodafone pay as you go broadband dongle. i normally buy the daily data add on and often get the error message. "your purchase was unsuccsesful, please try again later"
It took a number of retries before i sucessfully bought the daily data add on and then realised that my balance had dropped from 35 euro to 3 euro so i was been charged for every failed attempt.
i contacted vodafone and they refunded me my 30 euro, but i now realise that this has been happening before as my balance was often lower then it should have been.

    Anyone else noticed this?

Can only say i noticed it on my sisters in low signal area, where it legitimately went through but gave a failed message; Its always wise to check your balance before and after you try top up.

You are being charged for out of package data, which is very expensive, on each failed attempt to activate your daily data package. Ideally Vodafone should set up their system such that visits to that page aren't charged so that you can activate your data package. Unfortunately their system isn't set up that way so here is my advice; it may be possible for you to connect manually to the Vodafone Live APN (you would have to look into it yourself to see if you are actually allowed), this will cost you €1 for 50Mb a day which you could use to activate your data allowance before switching back to your proper APN. It should work out cheaper in the long run as even the first attempt to activate the data package is costing you money irregardless of whether it goes through or not.
