    There was a guy in college who used to take a different girl every weekend, and he had a bit of a reputation, and actually it led to people being afraid to take their girlfriends on nights out if he was going to be there

    My current girlfriend has slept with a lot more people then I have, but I don't see her as being a slut, I just see her as having more relationships then I had. I think that it's easier for women to get into relationships in many respects (or have one night stands because apparently men are hornier) and I think that there are more men out there willing to criticize a women for sleeping around, especially in rural communities where everyone seems to know everyone their age, and brandish her a slut then it is for a women to do the same to a man.

    I will say though, that pregnancy is an issue I didn't contend with in my school, and we didn't have a single guy father a child or girl get pregnant in our year. That we knew about of course. But in schools where that kind of thing is commonplace, maybe it would be more acceptable, but I think a girl getting pregnant before the Leaving Cert brandishes her for life. As sad as that is to see.

    imo, slut just means a woman who has no inhibitions about sex...that -more often than not if the girl is actually sound and doesnt f'uck everything that walks - is a good thing.

    women of ireland - reclaim the word 'slut' as a mark of confidence in yourself. you can all be sluts!!! find your inner slut!!

    That fair enough if that's your opinion but i wouldn't care myself then for much of this thread if i were had a similiar frame of mind 'cause most of the posters on this thread have very different ideas about what a slut is, something that is a lot worse than what you've posted.

    You really consider women with no sexual inhibitions to be defined sluts as oppose to a women who needs permiscuious sex with anything all the time - WTF?

    i don't believe in 'sluts'. Some people only have sex with a few people, some people have sex with lots, no big deal. Sex is great, most of us can agree I'm sure, so why on earth would having sex with people be a bad thing?!
    The only negative aspect of having sex with lots of people is that your risk of getting an STD increases [or getting a baby -the nastiest STD of them all!], but at the same time, you only need to sleep with ONE person to get an STD, and if you're responsible about getting checkups and using protection, you can lower that risk.
    I would never look down on someone for getting laid a lot, so long as they knew what they were doing and weren't hurting anyone [a la cheating]. When somebody calls somebody else a slut, they are actually saying a lot more about their own ****ed up attitudes towards sex than they are saying about the other person.

    that's a difficult read but if i get you correctly my response is...

    theres a fine line between no sexual inhibitions and promiscuous sex. in a sense they go hand in hand, you can't be one without the other. as per my original post then, although i'd never want my partner sleeping around i'd want her to not give a **** if she had in the past and the 'experience' of that leads back to a lack of inhibitions meaning i get my slut in the bedroom!

    if a lock lets any key open it then it's a sh1t lock
    but if a key opens any lock then it is considered the master key
