I'd escape through the roof and climb up to the next floor.

I have a strange wanting to laugh every time I'm face to face with someone in a lift. If I was in there for 1.5 hours I'd be an uncontrollable giggling mess !

Last place I worked had a car lift for bringing cars to an underground showroom. The lift would regularly get stuck between floors, or go to the phantom third floor where nothing existed except a brick wall when the doors would open.

Was up to 6 hours one time before I got out. Great fun.

Yep when i was about 9 or 10. And it was in Spain. It was an old lift so there wasn't even a intercom thing. Was stuck for about half an hour. Was by myself.
Didn't panic from what i remember. Presumed someone would come along eventually. They did:D

I was trapped in a lift in a hostel in Auckland, with 3 other people, for 2 hours.

It was incredibly hot, and one guy was panicking most of the time, kept screaming at the man outside who was trying to open the doors. Not a fun experience!

I'd imagine it's worse having some idiot stuck with you the freaking out the entire time, than being alone.

It wouldn't bother me to be honest. The old building my company used to operate from had an old lift that got stuck all the time. You got used to it. Thankfully I was never stuck with anyone else or long enough that going to the loo became an issue. That would be awkward.

There is a list on the internet somewhere of 40 things to do in a lift.

You could have accomplished all of them at once and be crowned King of the Lifts!

An elevator once FELL when I was in it

It was a hotel and the lift was overloaded (As in no space to move stuffed with bags and people). It went from the 7th floor to the ground floor quite alright but once the doors opened the lift fell down the shaft (With the door opened) so all that was in front of us was a brick wall. We were stuck for about 30 minutes and it was pretty frightening, no proper ventilation and it was Egypt in 40 something degree weather. Being only eight at the time I loved every moment :pac:

It's a lift, in a building, with loads of people. Eventually someone's going to realise it's not working.

I was one time locked in a bathroom after the key broke off inside the lock. I was living alone in the house, and could potentially have been there for a number of days. Fortunately, the door turned out to be flimsy enough to be able to kick a hole through it after a certain amount of time.

Ferry from England to Sweden. Getting lift down to cars when it breaks. Was also young at the time but my parents were not impressed as the ferry had left port before they were let out.

got stuck in a lift in a factory i worked in on a nightshift once. Best part was the security guy saying "dont worry, we'll rescue you" like he was John McClane or something..

3 people I work with got stuck in a lift 1 day. It was a fairly rickety lift and was always getting stuck.

Anyway, turns out 1 guy was claustrophobic and freaked out completely and called the fire brigade after about 2 minutes. He also started screaming that they were running out of air and needed to take turns breathing.

From that day on he always walked the 3 flights to the office.

Why did you lock the door?

I worked in a shop that had a lift for bringing stock between goods inwards and the stockroom and it used to break down all the time. You'd just have to shout for help and someone would go up to the roof and hit the reset button. But if it happened late in the evening you could be stuck for up to an hour. Sitting around playing snake* was better than working anyway. I imagine being trapped with panicky people would be a nightmare.

Not if you knocked them out at the first sign of panic!
