Depends where you live, at home wherever the cats are born they will usually stay until they naturally make their way around themselves, whether that's the barn or the shed or w/e but they would be out and about at that age.

You'd only let a cat take things at its own pace if you live in the countryside. Kittens are very very curious little critters.

You're only meant to let them out once they've had all their shots and been neutered/spayed. This can be anywhere from 3 to 6 months of age. A 6 month old kitten is like a 10 year old human kid. I would suspect you could be told this if you were either referred by your G.P. for a test in hospital because of constant illness or were somehow asked to donate leucocytes. From what I know, you can't just request a test, there must be a reson to use the resources.
