Make sure you look away first, it asserts dominance in the pack.

My pup is sleeping on my pillow. A couple of kicks and whines, wondering what he's dreaming about!

Sometimes, I get worried when I see my dogs dreaming, one growls in his sleep, he must be imagining giant tigers chasing him.

If he's laughing out loud he's probably thinking of something funny.

Dog's mind "Why is that annoying dude who doesnt give me decent food or take me for walks, just staring at me? is he retarded or something? I'll just keep staring at him till he fcuks off"

OP's mind "What is dog thinking? this is so interesting, i'll keep staring at him till i find out. hmmmm i could do this all day, nothing better to be doing anyway"

Dog's mind "This is starting to get weird. Is he gay? cos i get the feeling he's mentally undressing my fur. Right fcuk this retard, I'm off outside to find me some b1tches."

OP's mind "Oh there he goes! Dogs are so stupid. I wonder what else i could stare at to figure out what they are thinking...hmm i wonder what that lamp is thinking? i'll keep staring at it till i find out."

Lamp's mind "Oh not again, please fcuk off!"

When I'm eating they starte at me to try hypnotise me into dropping food. When I'm not eating they're wondering when I'm going to feed them. If they're not thinking about food they're thinking about how they can stop the sparrows from invading their territory.

I do wonder but I say they think about very simple things! They are colour blind. They may feel like us humans but they may not always think like us humans. They proabably think about the here and now but they might remember the past if they had a bad experience of something but they are less likely to think about the future of maybe a couple of hours ahead! Human years is different to dog years as both grow at different paces!
I'd say dogs think but not too much! They don't analyse they love their human companion no matter what!

I'd say the dog is riddled with existential angst and stuff. High brow thoughts the likes of which us humans could not comprehend. More than likely interspersed with an aching desire for opposable thumbs. Oh, and fingers also.
