Both those scenarios are nothing like what you are mocking in mine.If you pulled over to a bus stop and not looking for directions and asked some girl who was not under distress did she want a lift. How would you view yourself?
I'm not mocking anyone. I'm pointing out that it's a bit much to assume a malign intent in every man. The climate of hysteria surrounding this reminds me of nothing but that surrounding pedophilia. Men are automatically assumed to be offenders.

No one is outlining any kind of intent in every man,i pointed out what happened to me.And Ann described her situation when she was asked and quite insistently by a stranger did she want a lift.
Thats not hysteria thats called caution and discussion of weird situations that happened, and i felt threatened by that guy when he pulled over and then cursed at me when i wouldnt get in.Would you call that suspicious? Then i dont know what is to you.

This just started on TV3 if anyone cares.

It looks pretty typical of a TV 3 Trash production.

I predict we are none the wiser at the end of this program.

Was this exact same programme not on before? Rehash with the same questions and no answers.

    Very sensationalist and misleading.

Who decided to interview those people in a big giant empty warehouse! The reverberation is fúcking annoying! (I realise it's not very prominent but once you hear it you can't help but notice it).

Terrible production value altogether. If it weren't for the subject matter I would be turning over.

''She wouldn't get into a car with someone she didn't trust''?

    WTF:confused:

    What a tawdry little production.

None of the actresses look vaguely like the missing girls (is it the same girl for them all??!!)

In the reconstruction they have the actress with a completely incorrect handbag for Deirdre Jacob.
They have her with a large shoulder slouchy whiteish leather bag like bags that are in fashion now.

(I think) She actually was carrying a large Record Bag style bag with a CAT logo in big yellow writing on the front. She had it over her shoulder ie the bag sitting at her waist.

What is the point of this rubbish program????

The repetition is annoying, as is the lazy narration... ''it had become a-parent''.. I'm sorry, what? Did you mean ''apparent''?

Why are so many watching it if it's so bad?

    Lock Stock is on TG4

It's an interesting topic but the way the programme is packaged is very flawed - for one, these missing persons cases are being spoken of as if they are murders. Perhaps there should be a body before that term can be used?

I remember there was another case in more recent years - a girl who took a lift from a man in Dublin city centre, around Harcourt Street. I think she assumed he was a taxi-driver - and he drove her to the mountains but she got away. ****ing terrifying case... surprised it wasn't mentioned.

I guess that wouldn't tie in with their theory that it is Larry Murphy who is to blame for these missing girls.

So, did anyone else count how many times ''vanished into thin air'' was used?

Also, the Pro. of Criminology said all 3 were taken in close proximity of their houses. Erm, wasn't one hitchhiking? And another up by Johnny Foxes when she lived in Sandymount? Only one was really close to their house afair.

Larry Murphy did them all, and if an angry mob don't lynch him, he'll get a bullet pretty soon - he made plenty of enemies in prison.

Yeah true. I was expecting it to be more of a general look at the mountains as a backdrop to abductions and murders. Actually, apart from Enniskerry, the areas these girls were from aren't really near the mountains are they?

Philip Cairns was from much closer - I thought there would be mention of his case.

They must have expanded Baltinglass massively. It now encompass the village where Larry Murphy grew up and the remote area near another village where he lived with his family. Once a small town now an area 15 miles wide.

Perhaps Larry Murphy did murder all the girls in question. Lets say some remains were discovered and a little evidence to suggest he may have been involved turns up also. I really think this guy could still claim that there is no way he could receive a fair trial. The media have already convicted him, the Gardai haven't been entirely silent on the issue. There has even been books published about him.

Oh, and then there's Boards, yes, he's definitely been convicted on here. I happen to believe he's probably guilty for at least some of the disappearances, but really, there is no way that I should have been able to read some of the material about him that I have. If I was in any way related to any of the missing, I'd be totally p*ssed with this.

Just watched that documentary on tv3. I can't begin to imagine how difficult it must be to have a loved one go missing. I'd hate it if a member of my family went missing and the case was upgraded to a murder investigation, without any body etc., ever being found. I think I'd wanna hang on to a teeny tiny bit of hope. It's all just really sad.

I agree wholeheartedly with you. All the surmising and profiling that goes on is awful. It can be hard to listen to for anyone let alone those related to the person. All the "here is what we think happened" must be a killer. I don't think I'd be able to read a newspaper or switch on a television if I was in their shoes.
