I love Jeff Koons works, more art should be fun

Christo I love for sheer scale and softness of of the look

As a more traditional kind of sculpture, although i don't want to like any of his works because he was an ass Rodin's 'the age of bronze' with all the works he did of couples and women in different poses I think this is by far the sexist. Also Rodin said he fell in love with one of his statues:rolleyes:

I could list more sculptures but I'll stick to that.

As for writing, novel would be 'One hundred years of solitude' and short stories would be 'the black sheep and other fables' by Augusto Monterroso, Im at the point of learning spanish just to read his other books because I can't find too many in english.

I agree. I would say quite a number of Lennon and Mcartneys output will be regarded as art in a 1000 years time. This ones my fave. just over two mins long and packs in a very dark view of life in the middle of the hippie dippy 60's.

Not really, much as I like bands like Radiohead, Massive Attack, PJ Harvey etc, they're not going to write anything quite like Bach. Massive Attack's latest album really kicks ass, but I'll probably have forgotten about it in a few years. For Bach/Beethoven & Co, I'll probably be listening to them as long as I live.

Picasso is my favorite artist and although I think Guernica is the greatest work of political art ever created, I actually love his reinterpretations of Velazquez's Las Meninas the most. Picasso used about 50 canvases to break down and reconstruct one of the most famous paintings in the world, and the first time I went to Barcelona, I spent over an hour in one wing of his museum surrounded by about 30 of them. I think I love them so much because on the one hand they are completely different, but they are also totally recognizable; I suppose therein lies the essence of Picasso's genius.

I've always found it odd that photography traditionally has not received a lot of respect for being an 'art' form. To me, Migrant Mother is like some horrible, modern version of a Pieta; just because it appeared in a popular magazine rather than the Louvre doesn't detract from its value. And the famous National Geographic "Afghan Girl" rivals any traditional portrait.

when it comes to engravings / wood cuts
like I posted before it's Hokusai and also Escher and Dürer

odd factoid, after the Great Wave being one of the most famous paintings in Japan for ages this commuter waiting for a train noticed that part of the wave looked like the mountains nearby
