Ulster Bank Visa Debit in Australia?!

first time to post, would really appreciate if anyone can answer my question.

Ive just been refused a credit card by ulster bank (no idea why) and now im freaking out because my new laser is a Visa Debit card and it doesnt have a cirrus symbol on it and I dont know if it will work when im in australia for two months? cant find any info online. im going in to the bank tomorrow to find out but to be honest really dont think half of them even know the answers to these questions, after how little information i was given regarding the credit card which they knew was for Australia!

anyone know?

Forget laser, it's sh!te anyway. Visa is a worldwide system, so you'll be grand. Cirrus is a Mastercard thing, and is often associated with ordinary atm cards so they can work overseas. In a way, Visa Debit is the new Cirrus (your bank) ATM card. I'm very open to correction on that :pac: I used the halifax visa debit in Oz without any problems last year.

Your bank will have all the information, just persist in asking the right questions and ask for booklets.
