50 or 60 Beca ? Well if that reflects your merit score then well done. Of course it is possible that that 50/60 refers to the number of weeks before we get news on the freeze lifting :p

Do tell us what the Tarot says cos we ain't getting any fresh news elsewhere :D

well could be AC score but who knows ;)

its probably the most reliable information we can get at the minute because nobody really knows what happening either way!

You would be proper freaked out if she did give you a number that was to mean something and it turned out to be your merit number exactly!

Here well, ask her where my vetting forms are for me while your at it :D
Times like these I wish I was blissfully unaware of the boards, I really don't like to buy into the whole thing about the times it takes to receive things being significant, but it's real hard not to think about it when forms are going out and my postie is still AWOL  I would be quite happy waiting if I didn't know!

Oh, sorry to here your news 0607, good on ya for coming back and posting though

You could always read what was on here. All you had to do was hit the Log Out button and you had read access like any unregistered person does.

I'm not sure many people will support your attempt to establish a link between failing your A/C and being away from the forum, but that's not what this thread is for, so we won't discuss that here.

If you did it before, you can do it again.

my postie has also done a vanishing act :( gonna put out a secret vid camera encase i just keep missing him and there realy is no post

my reading - basically she could see i wasnt happy in my job, things were an up hill struggle every day and there were a lot of rows. people were tryin to keep something from me but i would still get it, i wouldnt have it long till i would just pack it all in and step into a new career. that ties in with me because im going for a promotion at work and there is a big fight about it at the minute and my boss doesnt want to give it to me (for completly illegal reasons!! RAWR!) timescale is imminent so maybe this freeze is only a NI summer?

she then said, in the new career, i was to be careful physically not to get hurt as i would be having a baby soon after i started. but she said that she couldnt see any hats hanging on the bed posts when i asked ;)

.... and on that note : I am guessing the AC's are finished up now , does anyone have any idea when the last ones were held ?

That sounds about right Beca - means AC's ran for 8-9 weeks in total. Thats a heck of a lot of candidates.

well rumour had it that 2000 were through to AC (maybe more when the pass mark was dropped) maths:

    12 per AC x 2 AC's per day = 24
    24 x 5 days a week = 120
    120 x 9 weeks = 1080
    1080 x 2 venues per day =2160

then do that all again with an average of 3 no shows per AC = 1620

and rough figure for merit list is 1200/1300 allows for those that didnt pass the AC by deloittes pass mark

Gulp ! Those figures do look a tad depressing , many thanks for the maths.

Beca , from here on in you'll be known as the Carol Vorderman of the forum :)

Deja vu much :D I honestly scrolled down and thought I had been at it again but completely forgot doing it! Well atleast they know they've got a bunch of number crunching freaks they could make use of in the office somewhere if they don't want us as officers!! My numbers weren't far off either!

I had an officer actually say to me the other day that getting through the AC itself is pretty damn good going, especially first time, and I should be proud of it even if I wasn't to get in in the end...so yeah, I'll just keep thinking of that when I need a little pick me up :)

Also have to throw into that numbers pot, those who fail vetting and according to he doc at my medical there's an average of between 2-4 no shows a day and hen there is the unfortunate ones who don't pass the medical, so that number will decrease further

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 327 ✭✭beca

 i completly forgot about that! theyr roughly the same yea!

we be shared carol voderman? ;)

I still can't see any reason why Deloite can't tell you your score ahen they say pass/fail, surely your score can't change?

I wonder if anyone really knows how the whole system works?

I thought I was through to the 2 parts which should cause me no problems (vetting and medical) but now the freeze. Haven't even got vetting forms :(

I wonder when we'll get deloitte feedback and when the merit list will be made available??

    Anyone got thoughts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 684 ✭✭✭wanadrum

Going by what deloitte told us we should get their feedback in August, I have no idea what is will happen on the PSNI side or when.

I just wish the process was a bit more fair or transparent. Why can't they keep everyone up to date and give everyone the same information.

For example - until you recieve vetting forms you are not given any contact details for the psni - so, if your vetting forms got lost in the post and don't get returned within the two weeks, you get kicked out of the process and know nothing about it.

If you try to use some initiative and acquire a phone number they won't really speak to you and seem quite annoyed that you have called (thankfully I never gave them any details so they can't put a black mark beside my name :) ).

Limbo was a well chosen word beca/pluginbaby.

Deloitte or PSNI can do what ever they like with you during the process - you have no real comeback - for example last year when the IST pass mark was lowered I was not called to assessment centre with a mark of 55 - I simply recieved the initial letter stating that I failed and the pass mark was 56.

I was quite surprised that at the assessment centre all of the roleplays were marked by the same assessors - I would have thought it may be more fair if each person did 1 roleplay with each set of assessors.
