Supposedly his burial site is to the rear of plots belonging to the best snooker players from Africa, Pakistan, and China.
Totally unfair, as he's completely snookered behind the black, brown and yellow.

Jaysus, it's hard to believe that he was only 61 - he looked at least 20 years older.

Went out to Citywest two weeks back to see him at Snooker Legends and was gutted he wasn't there as it was the only reason I went out.

Met Jimmy White, Ken Doherty, Dennis Taylor, John Parrot etc and got all their autographs but it just wasn't the same.

At the memorabilia stall, the first question everyone asked was:

"Have you got anything left that's been signed by Alex .."

The answer was no of course, anything that he did sign was sold very fast.

Seen him a few times in the flesh in his heyday.

He was a regular sight around Malahide's pubs and bookies in the 90's.

    RIP

    One of his last interviews:

A genius. A flawed genius maybe but a genius nonetheless, a true peoples champion and the reason why I and thousands if not millions like me started to watch snooker.

    What made him a genius?

Yeah, saw him in the train station in Cork strangely enough a few years ago, and that's exactly what I was thinking...

Obviously you have never held a cue? Aside from his snooker abilities he was an entertainer!!

    Well done Alex, RIP!!

Good at snooker and a good entertainer but hardly a genius. A genius wouldn't smoke and drink themselves into an early grave.

I think the next hurricane to hit the US should be named Hurricane Higgins in memory of Alex

Really? Because you have achieved so much in this life? When you have influenced anything come back and comment!

By that logic, people can't comment on/have an opinion on ANYTHING.

Saying someone isn't a genius isn't an insult so calm down pampers.

I just don't see how genius is in anyway an appropriate term to describe someone who was given a chance at a good life but instead pissed it up a wall.

We really do give sports stars too much credit.

ffs is it not obvious to you that he clearly meant higgins was a genius at snooker!

you obviously aren't a genius if you didnt gather that, or you are being a nuisance for the sake of it.

Of what relevance is it whether I have or haven't? My point is, you don't have to be an expert in something to have an opinion on it. E.g. I'm guessing you're not an actor/film-maker yet you've criticised films...
