Paperboy on the Commodore 64 :D

I think I was 6 or 7 (I was a late starter tbf) when I first played it on my friends C64. It was either Paperboy or Flimbos Quest; two of my earliest gaming experiences and still to this day two of my favorite games.

Did Flimbos Quest come on a Cart along with Fiendish Freddy, klax and Int Soccer?

First game I ever played was on a neighbours Pong machine, not a proper Atari/Sears console but a Grundig or similar euro clone.
It would have been around 76/77 when I was 4 or 5.
    Left quite an impact!
First arcade machines I remember playing were Donkey Kong and Battlezone, on a boat heading to Holyhead, again way back when.

Chequered Flag on the ZX Spectrum 48k :)
Turned out also to be my first 'sim' too - don't laugh!:D

The first game I ever played was Ghosts N' Goblins on a Commodore 64 that my parents bought me for Christmas 1986. For the first few goes I remember just wandering between the start of the first level and the first headstone you come to as I couldn't jump over it. I still remember the feeling of accomplishment when I figured out that you could jump up and right at the same time :).

The first game ever that I can remember playing was the first Lemmings game for the p.c. Used to love that. Can also remember around the same time as that playing Frogger and Space Invaders!

Mine would have been Oregon Trail on the ZX81.

For arcade games I'd say Missile Command with the Trackball controller would be one of the first.

Actually, now that I think about it the very first game I ever played was Granny Garden on a BBC Micro in about second class in primary school! Can still remember the music and everything. First time I ever used a computer as I recall.

Looks like a Predator thats taken Barney the dinosaurs skull as a trophy/Helmet! ;)

Malice_ That longplay brought me back... I will never forget that music as long as I live!

Grannys Garden?! I LOVED that game. My dad was a caretaker for a school and they had that on some of the computers. Sometimes I'd go to work with him during the summer which meant I had basically free reign over all the toys and stuff in the school (one teacher had a jar of sweets so I'd help myself to those :D). I remember playing that and loving it but could never remember the name for years.

resulted in me getting one straight away for christmas with super mario land :pac: good times :)

I don't think it was the first game I ever played, but that game made computer class fun. It was a **** game (in hindsight) but man it was a treat to get off 'proper' class to play it.

I genuinely can't recall my first game ever. I remember frequently playing Sonic 2 in my cousins' house at the time (which, incidentally, was my first ever owned game, albeit the bastard hard game gear version :pac:), although I was once informed an older cousin also gave me a lend of a NES once. So my first game could have possibly been Duck Hunt or Mario.

Granny's Garden, the sadness that brings me, waiting for ages to play it on one of the 3 somputers in school, then getting about 30 seconds worth of play before being turfed out of the 'computer room'

Made up for it in secondary school though, I put a snes emulator and a pile of roms on all the computers, happy days, until the whole class was asking me to give them copies. Should have charged for it now that I think back :P

First game ever, hmmm, hazy.. something on the Amstrad 464 in my cousins house, ended up getting one myself soon after. Probably harrier attack. I was obsessed with it.

Im pretty sure my primary school had a Apple II and a few BBC micros which you got to use once a month. Had I been old enough I would have had my mail order copy of Elite for the micro in the post!

There was a game that you had to command a turtle around the screen. Cudos to whoever can rememebr the name of it!

My first game was Castle Adventure in the early 80s on DOS. Ultra basic. Great game at the time.

You can play it online here.

You fell off the chair playing that too! Going around a corner, leaning into the turns! Not easy when its controlled by keys! And you were only 3 as well, bless!

I was devoted to Spy Hunter on the speccy, a terrible version but loved it anyhow. Knightlore was another, although I was rubbish at it! Deathchase, now that was a game! First game in the arcade I got good at was Stunrunner, no wonder I love Wipeout.

I remember Sonic 2 was the first I played but i always played on two player with my older brother, first game I ever played on my own was spyro the dragon and I managed to complete it without any help (not much of an achievement in hindsight but it felt like one at the time)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 520 ✭✭✭batari

Ah the first game you complete is definitely an achievement! First for me was Superman on the 2600, then E.T., then Ghostbusters I think! Great days..:D

I was obsessed with the Dizzy games on the C64.

Would have completed Dizzy, Treasure Island Dizzy and Fantasy World Dizzy back then.

Treasure Island Dizzy was particularly tough. 1 life and no energy bar. Miss manage your inventory while under water and drop your snorkel and it's instant death too.

First Game I ever played was the Terminator for Sega Megadrive.... Scared the Crap out of me...

Then I played Sonic the Hedgehog a few mins later and my love of gaming had begun.

I actually purchased The Terminator again not too long ago, it is to my surprise a pretty decent game.

It was chequred flag, one of the pack in titles with the spectrum back in 84, when Santa brought mine! The speccy wasn't renowned for it's racing titles but some were brilliant, Chase HQ, Stunt car racer, lotus turbo.
