I have a mate a bit like that, he once claimed to have seen a blue rat.

Oh, and I also know a guy who claimed to be spongebob's son

I worked for 10yrs with 3 compulsive liars:o. Here is a list of lies they told me.
    Girl number 1

Came into work badly sunburned, told the boss that while she was sunbathing, the next door neighbour's dog came into her garden and licked all her suncream off (ffs:rolleyes:).

She said another time, she was walking down the street wearing some kind of banana smelling suncream and a swarm of bees flew out of a tree and chased her down the road:o.

Said she knew a girl with a massively hairy chest, that she thought when 1st talking to her that she was wearing some kind of hairy pendant.

Said she was at a concert and got lost looking for the toilet. She saw a door walked through while pulling down her trousers and realised she was on the stage:).

Said she stuck a sanitary towel on the árse of her jeans by mistake in the pub one night and walked home like that:(.

    Girl Number 2

Said she used to live in Manhattan (not true)

When a group of workmates were being sent to Scotland she moaned about not getting to go. The supervisor said she could if she wanted to. Told her to pack and stuff to which she replied 'oh no, I can't go...my mother's lying at home in a pool of blood!' (I don't know how she followed up the rest of this ridiculous story). One of our workmates rang her that evening, her mother answered the phone, not a bother on her.

She forgot to pick another girl up for work one morning and said the reason she didn't collect her was because her brother was in a serious motorbike accident. The workmate in question, rang the hosp to enquire about how he was and he wasn't in hosp at all.

She spent a week in work whispering letting on she'd a sore throat. I rang her mobile after work one day and she answered clearly with no sign of hoarseness.

    Girl number 3

This girl was a different kettle of fish to the above two. They were generally harmless, lonely girls who lied sometimes to sound more interesting. This particular girl told a lot of lies in general, every member of her family had some disease or other, even said her sister had ovarian cancer and so many times she let on her child was ill or in hosp to get off work where neighbours of hers said the child was out in the field playing all week not a bother on her. She was a bit of a stirrer and a convincing liar and was a girl you'd be as well avoiding.

    Liars are everywhere:(

ok well ringing his mobile for starters... ringing him when he sleeps in because we all do that sort of thing for one another...

to spell it out for you pittens, he told us he starts work at nine, we noticed him not leaving until after nine, and every evening he would have some hero story about standing up to the boss. today we found out he doesn't start till ten. so its just pointless lies.

if you don't like it, start your own thread.

    So far today:

    1. found out he lies about what time he starts work

    2. the rocky bars

    3. said he sprayed his alloys white on his lunch break at work, he in fact came home for lunch, didn't know i was upstairs

    4. said he sold a pair of fat man pants to another guy. he said 'funny thing was, they wer my aul lads' what 'aul lads' wear fat man pants

    5. said his sister was aged 9. five mins later she was 6, then 7.

    6. told us the said rocky bars were on special offer two packets for a euro. they arent.

i don't know, this thread is just for fun. its amusing when he says things that aren't true, we get a kick out of it so just said id share and see if any one else has funny stories. don't need people telling me im an idiot, i don't criticize other threads.

Today we found out that you are a mentallist.

    I'm a compulsive liar. Or am I ? :D

No being serious, I am. I'll try to explain it.

It all stems back to a vey bad childhood, when I was constantly covering up/lying to everyone about what was going on at home. Never letting anyone know what was really going on in my life. This has spilled over into my adult life, where I tell the stupidest lies about the smallest things.

This has evolved to a stage where lies are my comfort blanket, I still find letting people know the real me very scary, and I keep alot of people at arm's distance.

They say compulsive liars can only get help when they realise they are a compulsive liar, and I truly only realised that I have a problem this year.

I met a guy I liked, and I totally balked and panicked when he asked me the simplest questions about myself, and I found myself lying.I just couldnt handle some-one knowing everything about me.

I then realised I have a big problem and I actually find it very scary to tell the truth about myself.

I'm going to go get professional help, and I've started to try to help myself, by finally telling my friends what went on in my house all those years ago. The relief I felt when I finally let some-one get close to my 'hidden ashamed of, real life' was amazing, and I think I'm going to be able to let people get closer and stop lying.

Don't want to wreck the buzz of this thread, but I just wanted to provide an insight into why people are compulsive liars.

So, this dude has either ate 27 rocky bars, or lied about eating 27 rocky bars.

    Either way, I like him.

I would be horrified if I thought my housemates kept track of what I was eating, even if it was hugely impressive!

I used to share a house with a girl and I'd lie about small unimportant things all the time. I was never sure why, it was just something I did.

    For instance:

Once I told her I was using Lo-Salt Vegetable Stock Cubes when I made risotto for dinner but actually I used Regular Full Salt Stock Cubes.

Another time I bought 2-ply toilet tissue for the house but told her I'd splashed out and got the fancy 3-ply ones instead!

Finally I told her that I was going to clean the house one day but instead I robbed all her stuff, cleaned out her bank account and moved out never to be seen again.

I think it was just a phase.

OP, show your housemate this thread and get him to explain himself, in painstaking detail as to how/ and or why he would consume 27 rocky bars (not caramel ones!!) in one sitting. Let the fun begin!

I don't think one sitting was mentioned.

My housemate used to burn rice onto the pots, and then blame me. I didn't cook.

So i told her there was no cameras in the shower.

    It's all tit for tat.

Did anyone else laugh at Lie 6 about him lying about the Rocky bars being on special offer when they weren't? Did the OP check every shop to make sure they weren't on offer!?
