Best rehearsal studios in Dublin area? MOD WARNING IN FIRST POST

    Now, don't be silly. :)

    I'm not talking 500/hr nonsense.

But for like 60-80e a session, what's my beat option?

Don't need drums, but DO need a good PA... Multiple vocals and we're running a backing track/click.

    So, what's my best option?

    Opinions please.

I've been to Applerock, that place in Inchicore, and a few others...

Any suggestions ... Would consider a BIT more if it was ridiculously amazing.

    Thanks!!

i would say they have the best gear to use,and they look after the gear .
not like some where you come in and the gear is run down and old .

    prices are pretty good ,
very much worth it .unlike alot of places around dublin .

worst two ive ever been in have to be temple bar (under the button factory)
and the underground amiens st.dunno if thats still there though.apple rock aint too bad but could be better gearwise
i think they are a bit expensive too

    I recommend, Muzzlemusic

    I'd also recommend Troubadour,

Good quality Yammy PA mixers w/ Bose speakers afaik, they include a monitor wedge as standard too which is a nice feature.

Been in there a few times now and gear's always top notch, they seem to really look after it. Such a drastic difference to the vast majority of the other places you find around dublin.

    Thanks guys!

Anyone ever been to the Jam Factory?

This the place over by St James's ? Was in there yonks ago and thought it had been closed down?

Irish Drum Academy were deffo in there at one stage anyways, mebbe thats all changed.

Used to have nice sized rooms as far as I can remember, same mediocre amps/kits as in everywhere else but was a good bit cheaper than the norm. This was a good few years ago though so might not be that relelvant...

I don't care about the drums, I would def like to just use a cab (as I own a head, but no cab.. don't ask) and the PA is meant to be good... I will also try troubadour, just those crazy mirrors put me off...

I second Muzzle Music....lads will sort ye out with whatever you need and equipment is all in top order. 50 blips, cant go wrong. Savage little shop with strings and that too

    &

MONSTER Energy on tap, well not on Tap but plenty of it

Like the lads say above, there's no better choice than Muzzle Music. We use them for a weekly practice and permanent lockup and it's hugely affordable. It's nice and secluded and ultra-secure. When there was a threat of flooding to the local area last year, they moved quickly to protect the building and then moved all our gear too, just in case. Incredibly sound bunch of lads, excellent shop (so if you simultaneously break 12 strings and every set of sticks you have, it's not the end of your practice*). Pool table, epic jukebox, sega rally in the common area whenever you feel off duty. Save about €120/month over the last rehearsal space we used.

Oh yeah, and the seemingly unlimited supply of monster is invaluable too!

    *this can happen!

There's no decent ones left in the city centre these days, but fair few nice ones popping up near enough to it. like ,muzzle and troubadour, been to bothh of them, Think i was in the jam factory years ago, cant remember much.

Thanks guys! I do like Muzzle!

Gonna try troubadour and Jam and I'll report back. ;)

Shame there's no super cool secret one. ;)

think that is the way forward, haven't been to troubadour yet but still, it is a lot handier than town. Plenty of places on the outskirts too so I suppose it depends on how far you are willing to travel

Some of the places i've used.

    Muzzle (chapelizod)
9 out of 10 A labour of love from the guys involved. Great rehearsal space, cheap price, loses one mark because of the the gate never being open and when it is there's some kind of gate nazi patrolling it. Cold in winter

    Jam Factory (james st)
7 out of 10 Only used it once but was in the Oval room, had a nice grungy character and really cool hammond type organ.

    Unit 1 (donore avenue)
5 out of 10 cheap (50 for a session) and cheerful small rooms but guy that works there is sound. does the job in a fix

    Sundrive Studio Dublin 12
6 out of 10, Nice size, free biccies and tea, on the expensive side though. (70 for 4 hours)

    Blackpitts
3 out of 10 The area blackpitts got the name because it's where they buried the dead during the black death, don't be surprised if you find a few bodies still here. Free parking

This is the one we use - would recommend it:

    Dedsound

Used to go to Muzzle - it wasn't bad, but the gear wasn't always great.

We rehearsed in one of the private rooms in Westend for two years until we got our own place. The guys there are great to deal with, and to have the option to have your own space is definitely what people should be after. We left just as they were putting the finishing touches on the ground floor. Place was looking great.
