Working In Ireland + Independent Contractor Overseas

    Hi guys,

I'm doing a 40 hr week in Ireland but in my spare time for about 10 hrs a week, I work as an independent contractor for a company in Australia (sales and marketing for them in Ireland/UK)

I've called the tax office to say that I'll be getting paid soon and want to make sure I declare it all properly.

I was told I need to register for PAYE tax on a TR1 form and submit a Form 11 by October to state my earnings from abroad.

Has anyone done this before, and/or have any other information or tips to provide? I want to make sure I don't screw it up as I don't like the idea of tax evasion!

Also, I have a revenue.ie online account now - can I just do all of this online?

    Cheers guys

Your income from overseas is income from self-employment. You were probably told to register for income tax on the form TR1.
You therefore need to register and in due course complete a tax return to include your self-employed accounts information and pay tax on your self-employed income.
If you are not sure what you are doing you should get professional advice.

Thanks for the info. Just wanted to confirm it thanks :) Have spoken to the tax office and that was exactly what they told me too.

I'll contact an accountant aswell just to make sure I'm doing everything correctly :)
