The one good thing about cremation is that unlike burial your loved ones dont have to feel duty bound to visit your grave and upkeep it.

If they got the cyrogenic thing down to some degree that would be cool. the biggest gamble ever. getting it right is a long way off though and you would want to be pretty special for someone to want to thaw you out in 1000 yrs time anyway.

Cockroaches and many other insects are particularly resistant to radiation, much more so than humans and other mammals.

My biggest fear with cryogenics would be getting revived by some advanced, evolved insectoid master race 5,000 years from now, after humans have long since annihilated themselves following a global nuclear holocaust.

So cryogenics isn't safe. And neither is open casket which leaves you susceptible to necrophiliacs, but I'll probably opt for that one because at least I wont be aware of whats happening.

i like the idea of my ashes sittin in an urn on the mantelpiece, and becoming a burden for generations. the urn gettin knocked over by a great grandchild or being used as an ashtray etc.

I wouldn't like to be buried. I don't want to take up space in the ground after I'm dead. I also don't want to give scumbags the satisfaction of vandalising my grave. I don't want to be cremated either. They put your body in a coffin and set fire to both you and the coffin. I think that's a terrible waste.

I think I'd like to be disposed of in the way that Tibetan Buddhists are. They leave the body out in the open for vultures or other animals to eat. This seems like a better option than rotting in a hole in the ground. I'd like as little of my Earthly remains left as possible after I'm gone.

Firstly my fortune (substantial) shall have to be spent in its entirety on the piss up.

Where is the " I don't plan to die option". In all likelihood by the time the majority of us reach what today would be considered the end of our days (60-80 years time) we will be able to replace many of our organs/tissues with lab grown ones. Combine this with gene therapy to correct for mutations over time and if you avoid any sudden diseases or accidents that you have an almost infinite life span. The fruits of the genomic era will really come into play over the next 50 years in a way that we can not full grasp yet. I would compare us today with some one in the 1800's when you talk about technologies such as electronics/chemistry and nuclear physics to people back then.

I want to be buried. I'd donate my organs to help whoever needed them first, then an open coffin as usual, and buried. You are fertilizing the ground and giving something back to the Earth. Nice idea, but I'd say you're about 1000 years out! Anyway, I dont want to live forever, I want to die naturally eventually, it er, natural!!!

I've seen a documentary on Cremation. It was awful. Any bits of fillings/metal pins etc were just picked out at the end and if there were bits of bones left that hadn't turned to ash they'd grind them down by hand. Didn't seem very respectful to me. Then again just rotting away in the ground doesn't sound all that pleasant either....I'm just never going to die.

I saw a documentary about The Tibetan Book Of The Dead a while ago and it's very dignified actually. The body stays in the house with the family for forty days and Buddhist monks read from The Book Of The Dead to prepare the soul for the afterlife. When they have finished they bring the body to the mountains for the vultures. It's not left near where the family live. Also if there are vultures around your body wouldn't be there for months.

I was in the cemetery a while ago and I saw a grave which had been vandalised. Some scumbag had drawn all over the headstone with permanent marker. If I had to choose between being in a grave that some tracksuit wearing parasite is going to vandalise or being vulture food I'd go with the vultures.
