A lot of comments were anti-Moat to be fair.

It probably needs no repeating here but he was no hero. Appears to me to be a girly man. So upset with his ex dumping him ( whom he met when she was 15 and he 30 for chrissakes) that he shoots her.
He isn't manly enough to accept being dumped.
He isn't manly enough to fight her - that is bullying behaviour too, of course but he could have been scratched , he could have had a kick in the balls - so he shoots her through a window.
He isn't manly enough to fight her new lover, who probably would have kicked his sorry girly ass. so he shoots him, unarmed.
Then he shoots an unarmed cop. Unarmed cop. In the US he would have been dead right then.

Then the girly man runs away like a child and when surrounded by cops - who should have stopped wasting our time and tax-payers money by removing his worthless ass from the earth without any process whatsoever - the girly man cries into his soup about not having a daddy, and when the police dare to taser his worthless ass he does the last cowardly thing and kills himself. Rather than face the music.

Not surprising he is a hero to wife beaters, and the UK's perennial chavs and their utterly ridiculous victim culture.

There'll always be the blah blah I hate pigs etc etc. It's amazing what generations of inbreeding does. Though I did see a man who appeared well spoken who put up a page on the news yesterday. He said that the reason he was impressed was that Moat managed to evade police for so long.

Ffs, have these people not heard of James Bulger?

To me it seems like one of those things that people thought was a bit of a auld lol. Bet the one who posted that isnt thinking that now, PM ranting about her, pictures all over the news. Thats the last time i put some ironic humor on facebook !

Robin Hood is a legend because he helped the people, Raoul Moat didn't really help anyone.

Have to agree. There is always, for whatever reason, a culture that leans towards idolizing these psychotic narcissistic killers, The Kray's being an example of that, they where idolized to celebrity status in their day. As said by op the media had a huge part to play in that.

Lol at the way even though the woman's appearance is of ZERO relevance or importance, it still has to be brought into this discussion. Because she, y'know, is a woman.

There's a member of boards who bears an uncanny resemblence to Moat. He has his pic below his username... has anyone else noticed this??? His name begins with M too!

It really annoys me the way this became a story about a facebook page. The news coverage of it was laughable and the fact David Cameron commented on it in the house of commons and was then going to make an official complaint to facebook shows what a brain dead media whore he is.

I wonder how successful a "Siobhan O'Dowd Is An Ignorant, Insensitive Cnut" facebook page would be..............

    Anyone interested?

There would be a lot of comments as to how shaggable or not she is...

I deleted my facebook account when I heard they stood by this tribute page. As fair as I could see it, this was facebook condoning Moat's actions. Shame on them.

I'm totally with David Cameron on this - the man does not deserve an iota of sympathey from anyone, and somethings just do not deserve to be afford the right of expression just for expressions sake. I know people will bang the drum that 'oh, he's still human after all' - but what his actions, as far as I'm concerned just dragged him to the level of sub-human.

I mean, he stole a perfectly good Tomato FFS!

He seems to have virtually lived out the Dionsyian archetype, which ran down through other outlaws such as Robin Hood, Jesse James, King Kong and John Dillinger, to name a few.

As such, some hero-worship, however misplaced, is not surprising. The mythology will probably include speculation that he was in possession of an oversized penis.

Absolutely sick it is,ofc his family should grieve but not allow the families who are suffering to endure that kind of insult.
It is like phoebe prince god rest her. They made a page about her saying, we murdered phoebe and people actually wrote on it and they werent charged for that!

On a point of principle, facebook should not interfere with free speech.

On a seperate point of principle, anyone who posted on it favourably should try being blasted with a shotgun and see how they like it. The guy was a stark raving homicidal loonybin, not a legend.

Think I know who you mean, and pointing it out is a fairly bad insult. Wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of that fella though ;)

    His legend will live on.

I cant see the hollywood movie coming out. Kill an unarmed woman, an unarmed boyfriend, an unarmed cop, run away to live rough - i.e. buy stuff in the supermarket whilst living in a sewer - and then cry about not having a daddy before ending his worthless life.

    Not seeing it.

    Maybe Oliver Stone. Maybe.

Everywhere I've gone this week people are slagging my off over my likness to Moat!.

    Even total strangers!.

I went into the local on Friday, and they'd his photo behind the bar and the bar girl jokes "Sorry Mart, can't serve you - we don't serve killers".

Might start competing in 'hide & seek' competitions :pac:

    They're not the thought police.
    Free speech and all that.

Facebook are not the government, so they are not infringing free speech by banning this page. The page can go on the general internet.

I think facebook want to see themselves - like ISPs - as service providers who are not responsible for content.
