A lot of english stewards etc working at Oxegen this year, even most of the fast food outlets. I was talking to 2 friendly guys from London working as stewards and they were laughing at how we can't organise anything

It's sad since its one of the biggest festivals in europe but it employs so much outsiders

You didn't go to Oxygen to see an all-Irish line up on stage, why the hell do you care about the nationality of the guy selling you a bag of chips????

Possibly no security company big enough in the country to handle an event of this size..

Same at picnic.. And what food stalls do we have to offer.. Abrakebabra and the chicken fillet roll stand!!!!!

    who cares?

Irish people still seem to have a chip on their shoulder that they are better than certain jobs.

until they get rid of that chip, they won't working.

Actually I thought there was plenty if Irish stewards around the place - all the ones I talked to were Irish, even the doctors in the A&E tent (a friend got really drunk)

But did you really expect the people selling you food to be irish? Why would oxegen be any different to any other fast food place in ireland?

All the Irish young 'uns that could have worked it were too busy rolling around in the mud...

All the Irish lads would be off their tits after five minutes and we would be reading a post about they scammed their way in for free into Oxegen.

Do you take money in exchange for alcohol and food?

    You do?

    Excellent.

    What's that?

    You're not Irish?

    So fucking what?

What I meant was that its not exactly hard to be a steward! Lot of unemployed Irish people and all those jobs for english people?

There are a few good reasons why security aren't Irish.

That said, the company I work for has primarily Irish staff. I think we do have a couple of foreigners not sure how many but of the 100 staff there 95 were definitely Irish.

Mostly due to them beign the ones who know the bosses though.

    Exactly.

What jobs did those Brits ever give Irish people?

Whoever the employer thinks is better for the job will get the job, that's it really, not much to do with where they're from.

If the Irish person wasn't fit for the job and the English person was,who would you hire?

Probably on £5 an hour .................To employ Irish guys would cost at least € 10 an hour .

An Englishman has £45 dole , an Irishman has € 196 dole

    We cannot compete .

When your working there or at any festival you have to put a deposit down in the case you do this its, after your done working you get it back.
