How much do you spend on drink and drugs?

Don't do drugs, never have and never will. I can think of better things to spend money on.

Drinkswise a note of the town will cost me between 70 and 90 euros and that will include taxis in and out of town and entrance to whatever club I go to.

So I guess the drink would usually between 30 and 50 because we do rounds when we go out.

And I don't really go out that often anyway.

Just curious btw since it's a large enough amount - not lecturing

anyone who spend 300+ on booze or drugs week is a retard, you get drunk at home and buy 2 pints at the pub, total cost of night less then 20 euro, and you get completely sauced for it aswell, and the only fun time in pub is the last hour or so anyway.

If your doin coke your an even bigger retard, buy 3 ecstasy for a tenner at most 15 euro, drugs are a complete waste all the same, i've learnt that

No. Someone isn't a retard because they spend a lot on something they enjoy. It's their money let them do what they want. Getting drunk at home and buying 2 pints in a pub sounds like a **** time to me so I wouldn't do it. I'd do something I actually enjoy.

Once again, they're doing something they enjoy. Something isn't right just because you do it.

I love my drugs, but anyone spending €300+ on psychoactives of any kind on a weekly basis is setting themselves up for a trip to the mental hospital at best, and an early grave at worst.

It varies tbh, Every bank holiday weekend anyway would be out Saturday and Sunday. In general I would go out almost every Saturday night and both nights maybe once or twice a month. Would often go out during the week aswell especially if there are mid-week matches on but would spend less. On the other hand I have not gone out much atall in the last month, though it is saving for race week in Galway so the saving is earmarked for gambling and drinking.

I would say my average spend on a night out is about 80 to 100 euro incl cover charges, I do bring a hip flask to save money sometimes though. It would be only occasionally that one weekend spend would be more than 200 euro. My post was really to point out how easily it is to spend a fair bit of money with the prices we have to pay in this country.

Also you are right about it being a lot of money and the intention is never to spend too much but when it comes to 1am and your locked all thoughts of not spending too much go out the window.

I don't spend anything on drugs, not my type of thing at all.

Spend between 50 - 100 on drink a week depending on the week. The last three weekends I've not been out so would spend maybe 50 or so on 2 good bottles of wine or when I feel like spoiling myself a bottle of champagne on a Saturday night which still ends up being a hell of a lot cheaper than going out in Dublin. Broke my run of not going out last night (it was only for a few hours) and it cost me the grand total of €80 (dinner and taxi included) it costs alot to be sociable. Think I'll stick to sitting in with nice wine, a good movie and not having to trek home with the rest of the place at 2.30am!!

So your sole purpose is to get drunk not to enjoy a night out. There's no difference between a drinker and any other type of drug user. The illegal drugs do the job of drink in a much smaller dose and period of time. 2 lines of proper coke can cost as little as €20 will have you high for 2 hours and then ware off leaving you as fresh as you where before you started taking it. Can't say the same for alcohol you have to ingest litres of it and it can take days to recover from it.

People can't seem to differentiate between drug use and abuse when it comes to the illegal drugs and don't seem to realise that just about everyone that goes out on a weekend in Ireland is a serious alcohol abuser.

For the most part I believe drug use is one's own business, but it stops being so when your substance abuse is almost certainly going to cause physical and mental health complications that will inflict misery on your loved ones.

Yes I know alcohol is a drug and I have said that I drink occassionally though not excessively.

However on this thread drink and drugs are being talked about as two separate things and that's how I responded.

I don't do drugs like those being discussed here eg. any pills or anything that can be smoked, injected, sniffed etc.

I love to drink grand marnier untill i fall down, maybe with a couple of lines of posh while yelling 'OLD MONEY', music...has to be cliff richard or ocassionaly daniel o' donnell...you can't put a price on that
