there is an article on www.isp-planet.com about a new ADSL technology. it's to be called ADSL2.

Claims to offer a doubling of bandwidth(line can handle up to 2.2MHz as opposed to 1.1MHz current). it's claimed to be about 10Mbps down, and has an incresed reach of 2.5%, which is now about 2.5 Miles from the exchange.

Also supports Bonding, that is using more than one ADSL line together. And is is backwardly comaptible.

So will that mean for 2x the bandwidth Eircom will charge 10x the price? :D

if you are going to discuss Eircom and Technical Standards in the one sentence you should consider whether ADSL2 or ADSL2+ is 'compatible with backwardness' more like.
