Currently on holiday in France and was in one of the big supermarkets today and saw a few set top boxes for sale. I know i need to look for the TNT HD boxes but would really like a recommendation from someone who is using one in Ireland at the moment.
Should I buy here or wait until things get sorted on the Irish market? Already have the USB stick on the PC and Play TV on the PS3. Just want a cheap option for another TV in the house .

Any of them really if you get a TNT HD capable one. It will do picture audio now/next guide but not teletext. Cheap ones may not have english menus though :) Netgem should do.

I am just back from France where I picked up a TNT HD set top box in one of the large supermarkets for 39 euro. it is a 'Technical TN 100 HDB' and it receives Irish DTT ok for me , EPG works too.

Supports MPEG2, MPEG4. SCART and HDMI output port, supports 576p,720p,1080i resolution. Also has a usb port so it can play stored USB files, can't record to USB though.
The manual is in French, however you can change the on screen display to English.

Other than a quibble about audio codecs that was discussed hereabouts ....and the lack of fancy digital teletext....a "TNT HD" labelled box should:

    1. Do Picture
    2. Do Picture in HD ( meaning RTENL2 displays)
    3. Do sound...possibly not in the most perfect stereo at times which is the quibble
    4. Do 7 day program guide

Not bad for €39 . There are other Technical models available in the channel in France too but they must display a "TNT HD" sticker otherwise do not touch them.
