ehh, no. there was a group of them, i was sitting on my chair minding my own business and they dragged me onto the floor. so i went along with them,

one just snatched my glasses like that. its not my fault a dumb bitch doesnt know how much value glasses are to someone

So basically what you are saying is you let a stranger take 400e worth of your property and just disappear? if it was a phone or laptop would you be just as lax in attempting to get it back? dude if you didn't try get them back straight away then that just screams that you weren't that worried at the time (most likely because you thought it'd lead to you getting your hole) and it's only in retrosepct now that you are actually regretting how silly you really were. Like I said no sympathy for stupidity

they were them dangle, zig zag yokes you have around your ears.

and my glasses are blue, rectangular ish frames and she was blonde

    (of course....)

What's that got to do with anything? :p

I've seen this happening a lot, actually quite a few of my female friends are very guilty of it. They'll nab some bloke's specs, put them on and strike poses while shouting "someone take a picture of me being all secretary sexy!" or some other such nonsense. Get yourself some contacts OP. Personally I'd never wear my glasses out in a pub/club.

But in fairness I've had hats robbed right off my head by men many, many times too, so I suppose it's not just women who see, want and destroy.

Back of the hand I say, that'll show 'em where their place is! I've had way to many the hat stolen due to girls saying "Oh I just want to try it on", "My hair is a mess" or "Come on, please". I'm just tired of girls just taking what they want! If guys just took what they wanted from them, well..... yeah we'd all be in prison!

Sounds like if the genders were reversed that it would be a lot of men getting in trouble or being kicked out of pubs pronto.

Are the men in question so craven in the pursuit of sex that they can't at least try and grab their glasses back?

I also can't stand people taking my glasses.

Whenever people try to take them, I let out a nice "WTF" at them, and I don't care what they think.

They wouldn't be happy if I took their handbag, so they can feck off.

i didnt want my hole, for one she was about 15 years my junior ..!, and 2, she dissapeared into a mass crowd, it was about a minute after they were taken i went looking for her and couldnt find her, or her skanger friends again.

im not very clued up into pubs in cork, and i am not a cork native, but now i know its mostly full of young scum, so its my last time going there

Mine cost about the same as two pints... so yeah I'd be pretty pissed off if someone took them.

Used to happen to me all the time when i went out with glasses on. Most of the time they were drunk girls trying to flirt with me. But it is very annoying and it's one of the reasons i don't wear glasses when i go out anymore.

I also presumed this would be about girls stealing drinks.
But I'm reminded of an office party a few years ago. Financial controller was quite drunk when one of the girls borrowed his glasses, he fumbled towards her, arms outstretched as he couldn't see. In about 10 seconds, he managed to grope most of the female staff, before his glasses were returned. A sexual harassment complaint was lodged the next day, with 3 of the ladies claiming that most guys couldn't be as accurate with their hands if they tried, the compaint wasn't upheld as the guy was "mortified" at what happened, which was totally "out of character" for him

theyre a nightmare for hats, theyre willing to just plain rob them off you. if its any kind of way a novelty hat its even worse, at halloween for example. theyll swipe them and leg it, i always make it a point to go after them and get it back.when did it become acceptable to just take things off people in pubs?

another one is girls on dancefloors dancing up like slappers and trying to take a sip of your drink......really annoys me. If they get a sip I usually say im on drugs and they just drank it.....bitches get the fright of their lives.

So you were aware enough to notice that she was 15 years younger than you, she stole property worth 400 euro but it still took you a minute after she disappeared before you actually started looking for her? and also no offense here but how did you expect to find her since by your own admittion you are practically blind without said glasses? I'm sorry but there's more here than meets the eye (no pun intended), a blind man doesn't let a stranger take their seeing eye dog for a walk.

Most likely not. A good pair of glasses can be really expensive: decent frames, UV coating, scratch resistant and then you can choose to have the glass thinned now.

sure, but to thicko blondes they are the same as the 10euro glasses u get in aldi or lidl.

having said that i was an idiot so its not like im blaming anyone but myself, but lessons learnt. , i am just too naieve and laid back most of the bleeding time (stupid gemini traits, always expecting things to be ok, scarily accurate)

    keep away from an brog

and tell wimmins who grab my glasses to **** themselves.

does this happen to guys or is it just me..?

I have had it happen loads of times, and always had the glasses given back again, but some blint in an brog in cork took them off my last night and i never again saw them, vanished, out of sight.

what a stupid bitch, they cost about 400e fekkin ridiculous. she was obviously too stupid to realise their value to the owner

Ah the brog, the smelliness ,bad pints, glasses getting robbed, still have to love it:), that is an unfortunate thing to happen tho:(I'm glued to mine...

People need to stop being mean to the OP!!

It's not just you, OP, I've had a few lads try and steal mine too! Quickly met with a slap! I don't try claw their eyes outta their head, do I?

And another thing....people who don't wear glasses themselves ALWAYS touch the lenses with their greasy paws!! Grrrr. The only time my glasses will come off my face is if I'm trying on my friends glasses and vice versa!

RE hats and the like, we've swapped stuff among friends and whatnot but things have always been returned! Hahaha...if someone asks to try on your hat say you've headlice!

Funny story. A friend of mine was in Galway in a class party. I'm not sure if his glasses were knocked off or if someone reached out and took them but they disappeared. He can't see a foot in front of his face without them.
He though "Feic it, I'm in Galway, I can do this here because nobody will know me." He proceeded to shift a girl so he could borrow her specs to get outta the club!! Anyway, he appears in Limerick the next day and tells me what's happened. A girl I know walks past and he dives under the table. Doesn't she go to UL too :D to this day I don't think she's realised it was him that night!

I had a pair of green Kanye West-style glasses at Electric Picnic last year (don't ask, 'twas the drink) and I swear, half the bloody campsite borrowed them at some stage in the one night. I got them back though.

it's cos they're drunk, girls go weird with beer....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,943 ✭✭✭ballsymchugh

sean locke had a good joke about this. you get sick of people coming up saying 'oh let me try your glasses' but they never go up to someone in a wheelchair and ask them to get out so that they can have a go :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 553 ✭✭✭NoHornJan

She must have been blind drunk and looking for some dutch courage off your foreign friend...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,689 ✭✭✭✭OutlawPete

**** sake, don't get me started on that. Was practically stalked by some bitch one night who wouldn't let up asking me to try on my hat one night, she even waited until I got up to go to the toilet, came up behind and tried to snatch it off my head. Seriously, seriously aggravating.

You should have told her that the only hat of yours she could have, was your helmet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,241 ✭✭✭Sanjuro

Simple answer to this. Don't let anyone take your glasses. You cant start pissing and moaning because you let someone do something to you and then you were complacent enough to let them away with it. If anyone just presumed they could touch the things that help me see, I'd just presume it's all right for me to poke them in the eye.
