Why didn't you ask for them back?

I wear contacts out in messy situations to avoid breakages/losing of them

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    Did you try ringing them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,554 ✭✭✭✭alwaysadub

Why do you let people take your glasses off?!
    Tell them to fcuk off!

I've never taken someone's glasses off, or had people take mine off and pass them round.

Yep, I've gotten that before. I tell them straight up no, under no circumstances can they have my glasses. Not having some ignorant bint knackered out of her skull pawing them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 954 ✭✭✭PaddyBomb

Bet ya her friends all had a good oulde laugh at how "mad" she looks with the glasses on her?

Drunk girls are all the same :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,953 ✭✭✭Vinta81

That's really **** :( Should of gone ater though, try ring them sure she could of dropped them in there? Oh, and what on earth were you doing in the Brog?!

Don't think it happens in general.
You were in the Brog though.......:(
Haven't gone in there in years, since the Hairy Lemon days (mmm cheap black russian), but its twit haven now. She probably just cast them aside. Did your friends (sorry, but maybe you couldn't) get a good look at her? Cork is small you could track her down and drag her to specsavers:p

Listen you won't have that problem if you just go anywhere else-avoid the brog.

Feel for ya. 300 is a huge amount of money!

had this happen to me once when i was out, it wasnt a young girl but a woman of about forty odd took my tie off me, i took it all as a bit of fun at first thinking "ah sure she's only having a laugh with the girls, she'll give it back now in a minute", so off i went to get a pint, and when i came back i thought "ok no sign of tie coming back" so i felt ****ty having to spoil her fun and ask for my tie back.

"ah jaysus sure you're no fun y'oul cahnt!", she'd gone from upper class to pure crass in the time it had taken me to get a drink!

i thought to say "do i look like i give a flying fuck what you think of me?", but, i didnt, i just took my tie and went on with my night, thinking nothing more about it, till now when i was reminded of it anyway.

point being OP, dont ever feel bad about telling someone "NO!", next time they reach for your glasses! :)

i had originally clicked into this thread thinking this thread was about girls robbing your drinks in nightclubs when you turn your back!

the funny thing is i considered last week getting new glasses but was hesitant due to the price, my ones cost a fortune but were about 3 years old. they were ultra thin, lightweight, uv reaction and flexible.

feel such an eegit of the highest order

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,316 ✭✭✭✭the_syco

Once, but when she said no, my response was "give me my fucking glasses back, now!". Never let that happen again. Have heard and seen people getting their glasses robbed, and some were as blind as me.

Seems they are using your glasses to make them look sexy, so that they can score some particular dude. If this happens, your glasses will be left somewhere, and you'll be rightly f**ked then.

**** sake, don't get me started on that. Was practically stalked by some bitch one night who wouldn't let up asking me to try on my hat one night, she even waited until I got up to go to the toilet, came up behind and tried to snatch it off my head. Seriously, seriously aggravating.

It's fine with me when it happens, I just hate it when I get them back and it's like someone staged a bleeding sauna in my lenses.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,302 ✭✭✭JohnMearsheimer

It's happened me loads of times. My glasses would go walkies but I'd always get them back by the end of the night. I don't really mind if friends takes them for a while but a total stranger reaching at my face isn't appreciated. I wear contacts out these days so problem solved.

Seriously a 400e pair of glasses and you just let someone take them? how stupidly pissed were you? did you think if you let her take them it'd be a preclude to a shag later on? sorry but I've no sympathy for stupidity.

This is why I have my contacts! A decent pair of glasses is expensive, but necessary, especially when you're wearing them all day every day. I hate, hate, hate when girls think they can just take them right off your face. I always tell them no, and I don't care what they think of me. They obviously don't care what I think of them if they're willing to walk right up to me and take my glasses!

Also, the brog is the place where I could see that happening. It's a place where you'll find some unusual people to say the least and not all of them are the good kind of unusual!

So basically what you are saying is you let a stranger take 400e worth of your property and just disappear? if it was a phone or laptop would you be just as lax in attempting to get it back? dude if you didn't try get them back straight away then that just screams that you weren't that worried at the time (most likely because you thought it'd lead to you getting your hole) and it's only in retrosepct now that you are actually regretting how silly you really were. Like I said no sympathy for stupidity

    (of course....)

What's that got to do with anything? :p

I've seen this happening a lot, actually quite a few of my female friends are very guilty of it. They'll nab some bloke's specs, put them on and strike poses while shouting "someone take a picture of me being all secretary sexy!" or some other such nonsense. Get yourself some contacts OP. Personally I'd never wear my glasses out in a pub/club.

But in fairness I've had hats robbed right off my head by men many, many times too, so I suppose it's not just women who see, want and destroy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 423 ✭✭Mac Masters

Back of the hand I say, that'll show 'em where their place is! I've had way to many the hat stolen due to girls saying "Oh I just want to try it on", "My hair is a mess" or "Come on, please". I'm just tired of girls just taking what they want! If guys just took what they wanted from them, well..... yeah we'd all be in prison!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,252 ✭✭✭✭stovelid

Sounds like if the genders were reversed that it would be a lot of men getting in trouble or being kicked out of pubs pronto.

Are the men in question so craven in the pursuit of sex that they can't at least try and grab their glasses back?

I also can't stand people taking my glasses.

Whenever people try to take them, I let out a nice "WTF" at them, and I don't care what they think.

They wouldn't be happy if I took their handbag, so they can feck off.

i didnt want my hole, for one she was about 15 years my junior ..!, and 2, she dissapeared into a mass crowd, it was about a minute after they were taken i went looking for her and couldnt find her, or her skanger friends again.

im not very clued up into pubs in cork, and i am not a cork native, but now i know its mostly full of young scum, so its my last time going there

Used to happen to me all the time when i went out with glasses on. Most of the time they were drunk girls trying to flirt with me. But it is very annoying and it's one of the reasons i don't wear glasses when i go out anymore.

I also presumed this would be about girls stealing drinks.
But I'm reminded of an office party a few years ago. Financial controller was quite drunk when one of the girls borrowed his glasses, he fumbled towards her, arms outstretched as he couldn't see. In about 10 seconds, he managed to grope most of the female staff, before his glasses were returned. A sexual harassment complaint was lodged the next day, with 3 of the ladies claiming that most guys couldn't be as accurate with their hands if they tried, the compaint wasn't upheld as the guy was "mortified" at what happened, which was totally "out of character" for him

theyre a nightmare for hats, theyre willing to just plain rob them off you. if its any kind of way a novelty hat its even worse, at halloween for example. theyll swipe them and leg it, i always make it a point to go after them and get it back.when did it become acceptable to just take things off people in pubs?

another one is girls on dancefloors dancing up like slappers and trying to take a sip of your drink......really annoys me. If they get a sip I usually say im on drugs and they just drank it.....bitches get the fright of their lives.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 67 ✭✭CrazySnakeLady

So you were aware enough to notice that she was 15 years younger than you, she stole property worth 400 euro but it still took you a minute after she disappeared before you actually started looking for her? and also no offense here but how did you expect to find her since by your own admittion you are practically blind without said glasses? I'm sorry but there's more here than meets the eye (no pun intended), a blind man doesn't let a stranger take their seeing eye dog for a walk.

Most likely not. A good pair of glasses can be really expensive: decent frames, UV coating, scratch resistant and then you can choose to have the glass thinned now.

sure, but to thicko blondes they are the same as the 10euro glasses u get in aldi or lidl.

having said that i was an idiot so its not like im blaming anyone but myself, but lessons learnt. , i am just too naieve and laid back most of the bleeding time (stupid gemini traits, always expecting things to be ok, scarily accurate)

    keep away from an brog
