    I think they're still around. I thought I heard them like two months ago... or maybe I was too drunk at the time. I probably wouldn't be the most reliable source.

    I've heard grasshoppers (heard one yesterday) but I wasn't even aware that there were crickets in Ireland.

    I'd normally associate them with warm nights in Spain or Portugal or The Canaries.

    Apparently some people buy them from pet shops and release them outside for the chirping.
    The're not native fauna to these parts tho.

    i remember grass hoppers alright from my childhood, i thnk they used make a noise by rubbing their knees, never heard of crickets in ireland though, only on american tv... :|

    HAHA i call them grass hoppers as they are same thing more or less as crickets.

    i hear them the whole time around where i live, but can never see the feckers, as soon as i get close they stop making noise.
