Half-Life 2 sluggish/crashing

Hi all, anyone else who has Half-Life 2 (the Steam for Mac port) find that the game is unplayable? I've even had a full-on hard-crash! :eek: Am on MBP Core2Duo 2.2Ghz, 4Gb RAM, OS 10.6, fans at 5000rpm.

I'm guessing your MBP might have an Nvidia GPU?

Aye, nVidia 8600m GT.

So I saw that I can revert to 10.6.1 with the discs, but would I lose all my files then?

No, your files will be fine.

Just did this last night, had a bit of a scare as the screen garbled when I went to restart for the 10.6.3 update but it's all gravy now.

All files etc. seem to be in their place, and Half-Life 2 is running well enough
