I used to have a thing where I'd randomly think of a load of Simpson's jokes, not knowing they were all from the one episode, then low and behold that episode would be on on Sky 1 that night. This happened a couple of times per week for months. I was very consciously aware of it n used to predict the episode that'd be on
That's freaked me out a bit because the very same thing used to happen to me.

    Double coincidence...

No it was more like ten, but the clock shows one. I guess that's a kind of reverse coincidence

Back in the 80s my sister's best friend spend part of the Summer holidays with us. Six months later I moved to London to find work. Went for an interview a couple of days after getting there and who came out to reception to show me to the interview room but my sister's friend! She'd starting working there a couple of weeks previously. I got the job. :D

I went out to a nightclub a few years ago when i was younger and brought my passport with me for ID,and of course i lost it.

Was pretty gutted and went to the bar and reported it missing.

On the way back, the DJ announced "Could <my name> please come to the DJ box, someone has just handed up your passport"

So, relieved, i went up to the DJ box to collect my passport. Opened it up, t'was my name.... but someone else's passport!

That's very strange, I had an almost identical experience, also with The Simpsons. Except for me I would wake up and repeat dialogue in my head all morning and afternoon, just with it sort of stuck in my head, like a song. Happened probably 60-70 times when I was 12-14.

You must have seen ads coming up to the episode, one you had seen previously, and the scenes started playing in your heads.

    That's the rational explanation.

    The paranormal explanation?

    You're all a bit freaky.

Way back when I was in school, all of my teachers told me I would amount to nothing. I have currently amounted to nothing. There's no logical reason as to how two dozen people could predict my future so acurately other than coinkydink. Still see some of them down the dole office though. That I believe, is irony. Schadenfreud too actually.

Wait a minute, are you possibly suggesting that there's no such thing as psychic ability!? I hope you can back that lofty statement up :pac:

There's probably a few that have happened in my life, but i can't remember them now! Two weird ones from the family are:
My cousin from Ireland was working in a small little pub in New York. Fella walks in one day and she heard him talking in an Irish accent so she went over and got chatting to him. He said he was only in New York for a few days, that he was heading to Vegas for a wedding. She started telling him that our cousin was going to Vegas getting married there soon(who by the way we wouldn't have had any contact with in yrs), and messing, asked him was it xxx's wedding - turns out he was the best man and groom's brother!!

Another cousin was in Oz as was his brother, but they were travelling seperately-one had only been there a few weeks, the other had been there months, and hadn't been talking in weeks so didn't know each others plans, they thought they were on opposite sides of the country. Walking down the beach one day, and they bumped into each other!

my sisters birthday is the 11th of september. in 2001, i was just after starting 2nd year of secondary school and was up bright and early. my sister was after being given something like this

    plane

of course i picked it up and started zooming it around, and i crashed it into the fridge, commentating 'oh my god theyre all dead...this is the worst crash ive ever seen!'

and sure we all know what happened a few hours later!

I have always had the same pin number for my phone and I've kept it for all my phones and have always used it anytime I've needed a password for anything. Anyway a few years ago my bankcard got broken in my pocket and I had to send for a new one which I got a few days later. When I got my pin number posted out to me for my new card it was the exact same number that I've always used for my phone, couldn't believe it! Pretty handy too, didn't have to memorise it.

So, what's the biggest coincidence to ever happen to you?

For me, it was when my younger brother bought a mobile phone off the shelf about 3 years after I got one, different network and everything. The last six digits were the exact same as mine. The odds of that happening are exactly a million to one.

What a coincidence! I bought a mobile phone and 3 years before that, my brother had bought one with the last 6 digits the exact same! Even stranger was that we were talking about it a couple of days before this thread was started... ;)

Not sure if someone has posted this already but when you consider that the average lifetime has miliions of "events" it is no surprise statistically that most people will experience at least one "one in a million" event in their life. In fact your life would be pretty boring if you haven't.

Well, the fundamentalist rationalists would argue it was a purely random occurence.

My own rationalist explanation appears above but there are several more paranormal possibilities worthy of exploration.
    These include...

-you are all imbued with psychic powers, but these powers are confined strictly to re-runs of Simpsons episodes, in which case there may be more of you out there.
You should find each other and start a Facebook group.

-you are all imbued with psychic powers, which extend beyond the Simpson episode phenomemom, but these powers are not yet fully realised or explored.
Dudess, for example, can kill people remotely. But unlike the title character in Carrie, her powers thus far, extend to celebrities and not those in her immediate vicinity who have upset her, which is fortunate for some of the denizens of AH.

-aliens are doing some sort of experiment by beaming these images down into your heads. Perhaps it is Kang and Kodos, and we can only guess at the nefarious motives of those rascally aliens.

-you're all 'Indigo Children', just a little out of tune.

-you are living proof of the 'observer created reality' theory of the Copenhagen Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics (think 'The Secret'), in which case is there any chance one of you could conjure me up a hot blonde for this evening?

You're not the first to say this either, used to happen to a few of us who were out playin footie for the day etc.

I'm ordinarily very rational and logical, and probably would'ce said the same thing as you. Sky never advertised the individual re-runs though, and I would never watch telly apart from the simpsons, just be outside all day etc.

Or else they're disregarding the hundreds of times they thought of Simpsons episodes and they didn't come on that night.

I was only thinking about this last week actually because last year, hours before Michael Jackson died, I had a dream that I met him and had a dance-off with him :o

All the more strange because I can't dance and I've never been a fan of Michael Jackson. Then I wake up to discover that the had died!!

I had the exact same dream a few weeks ago, a good bit before the one year anniversary hubbub kicked up, which is fairly weird.

As soon as I scrolled to this post, 'Rock With You' started on my iPod
Extraordinarily weird of course because it's a thread about coincidences

(There are 2 Michael Jackson songs on the playlist, out of 181 songs...)

Some of the coincidences here are mad.

The maddest one I've heard would be a friend buying a new mobile and getting a (apparently) recycled number from vodafone. Every few weeks he would get the odd text/call looking for "Susan". He met an Irish girl in Oz n started going out with her, and they came home together. He hadn't used his Irish moby in about 6 months n had forgotten the whole Susan thing. It happened again a couple of months later except he passed the phone to his new GF presuming it was one of her friends looking for her. Turned out that was the self same "Susan" who used to own that number.
    THAT'S amazing

    Another Simpsons psychic here!

One day no matter where I went the Clash song Rock The Casbah was playing.....it seemed to be playing on every radio station.....then that night I heard Joe Strummer had died the night before.......spooky.

That's not a coincidence really, the day after someone famous dies the radio always plays a lot of their songs. I'm too lazy to read through the thread, someone's probably pointed this out already. (Or maybe you were joking)

Last week I sold a ticket for a gig to a fellow Boardsie (from a different County) on Adverts.ie who I don't know in real life, or have ever interacted with on Boards.

Anyway, parked the car before the gig the other night, and as I was locking it, the guy from the car parked beside me called out my name and told me he was the Boardsie I'd sold my ticket to! (He recognised my picture). Major coincidence considering there were nearly 4000 people at the gig.

Another coincidence of mine was when I was younger, I went to Alicante to study Spanish for a couple of weeks, while a couple of friends of mine went to Nice to study French. While in Alicante, I got to know a couple of girls from Sligo, nice enough girls, kept a little in contact afterwards but not much. Then one of the guys from Nice tells me he met a girl from Sligo while over there who turned out to be best friends with all the girls I met!

Another one I can remember is when my mum and uncle were younger, they went travelling across America, both at separate times, my uncle went first. He managed to hitch hike a good portion of the journey with this trucker. Then when my mum went years later, she hitch hiked as well, managed to get the same trucker. Odds of that!

Was travelling around Europe last summer. Met a couple staying in our Hostel Room in Krakow. Turns out we'd been staying in the same Hostel in Prague a few days previously.
A week later in Bratislava, we ended up staying in the same hostel room as them again.
Then a few days later in Budapest, ended up meeting them on a bus. Weird.

Was at a gig a few years ago up at the point. Half way through the show, This guy was infront of me dancing around with his bag on his back and for what ever happened the bag started to open. All his gear started to come out, so I tapped him on his back told him and he tanked me and we went on our ways.

After the gig, we ended up in the same pub, fair enough it was a bit clsoe to the point. Anyways the next day I got up went out to the bus stop and be hold there was the same guy, appertly he lived in the same apaprtment block(I was staying at my brothers). Got on the bus started talking to the guy, chit chat and we weer on our way. We then got off the same stop, still a bit weird, started laughing and we went on your way. Then we went into the same building(brothers work place). Apeprtly he works in a company on the floor above my brothers floor.
