    Evening all,
My dad's car was stolen from his garden recently but the Gardi recovered it and brought it back to their station. The *****'s who took it broke the steering lock and damaged the wheels so it is not drivable now. Does my Dad need to pay for a tow truck to get it back home or is there another way? It smacks that he would have to pay to get his property back. The Gardi say the person who stole it is without means to pay for its return.
    thanks

Insurance company should be able to tow it to a repairer if I'm not mistaken

They should provide you with their address and let you seize goods up to the value of damage done, wishful thinking though

As was said your insurer should sort you out though with bringing it to a repairer.

You should pursue prosecution for the criminal charges involved, that will then make good foundation for a civil case for damages a lot simpler. your insurer should provide legal aid If they know who to pursue for the damages and also handle the recovery from the Garda station and repair..

There will be a short term hit on your NCT while the damages are recovered, you should be reimbursed any costs once damages are recovered.

    Thanks for the replies all.
Thats what I was afraid of. The car wasn't on the road so not insured. ITs salt in the wound to pay to get it back :(
Like the idea of seizing property from the guy who stole it :D

If it were me and I found out who stole it, I'd seize his scrotum and make a coin purse out of it
