How strict are Ryanair with cabin baggage dimensions? I'm carrying on a sportsbag, but it's about 2cm big, but it wont be full. Do they just weigh the bags or do they measure them in that little box thing? Is it possible to scrunch the end of the bag down into the measurey boxy thingy and get away with it?

    Thanks

If they happen to be checking sizes using the metal and/or cardboard frame, they are absolutely unforgiving. One millimeter above and your bag is out. Often, they do not bother to check. But counting on that is a bit of a gamble.

That said, it would appear that squeezing your bag into the frame with force is acceptable. I have seen people literally sitting down on their bags to push them in. Once the bag somehow made it into the frame, it was allowed to go on board. Make sure to not pack anything you would destroy by squeezing the bag though :).

Everyone I know who flew out with them from Dublin lately got checked.

But if it's an unfull sports bag you should definitely be able to squish it down. Or wear all your clothes, or wear a jacket with clothes/books shoved down it. You can't get fined for being fat.

I've already managed to get 5 pairs of socks, 5 pairs of underwear, 2 t-shirts and a pair of shorts into my Guitar case :D

I know a fella who went to Spain last year with just a guitar and hard case. Packed all his clothes into the guitar itself. Bit of a krusty b'tard though.:D
