No, that is clearly not what we are saying. We are simply pointing out that the reason these violent criminals exist is because drugs (many less harmful than alcohol) are illegal.

If people could pull their heads out of their arses and deal with the facts, rather than the 'reefer madness' type hysteria then we could legalise the less harmful drugs and do some real damage to the violent criminal gangs.

No argument here. But - for the moment at least - anyone buying them is supporting serious and violent criminal activity.

As for the oil comparison.....there's a valid point in there, given the real reasons for the war in Iraq, but two wrongs don't make a right, and (less importantly but still a pertinent fact) it's not making the streets of Ireland more and more violent and dangerous.

    The criminalisation of drugs & drug users has 2 effects;

    1. It makes illegal the choice of people who choose to use other drugs besides alcohol.

    2. It drives drug supply straight into the hands of criminal drug gangs.

Yes indeed, two wrongs don't make a right.

You want some things legalised, fine go campaign for that.

But in the mean time anyone buying off dealers are keeping the criminals going and in business, people should at least have the bottle to own up to that. You* can try to rationalise it away to ease your conscience but you are the root cause of drug related crime.

*you in general, not in particular.

Just like anyone buying coffee is supporting child labour and people who buy oil support the war in Iraq. The end consumer can't really be held responsible for the actions of the organisations and governments that enable violent drug related crime. I want the weed, the government have decided that weed has to come from criminals, not my fault.

I bet it's still more than I spend, boring old git that I am. -oh, when you talk about drugs, do you include caffeine? Because that's really the only drug I do regularly.

If you're correct this equates to €13,000 - €18,200 each year.

I suggest you need help Neil, this is an unhealthy amount of money to be spending on drink.

As the title says, about how much do you spend on drink and how much on drugs if you do them per week? Do you consider it a waste of money?

I'd say I blow anywhere between 100-300 a week. Enjoy it at the time but left with that 'ah bollocks' feeling afterwards.

    200-600 a day

Some of the headshop drugs were no better than caffeine IMO.

Not sure about price of drugs cos haven't done any in 7/8 years. but remember E's n coke being a ridicilous prices in late nineties comapard to today (X3 i'm guessing relatively)

Booze last sat cost 3.50 pint in mc turchaills dublins,in cafe en seine after (dont ask) six squid a pint so booze prices in dublin anyway still erratic, but i think in general they are going down. you would never get a pint anywhere in dublin less than 4/5 euros two years ago

Pills where always cheap. I never paid more than €10 and typically paid €5 or less. Even at €10 that's a considerably cheaper night out than alcohol.

    ???

In the early 90's, you could be talking £20 each, late 90's, £10, depending on how many you were buyin, you could maybe get them for £5-6 each.

Early 2000's they started to go for £5/€8~ or less depending on how many, and these days, becasue there are very few actual MDMA (i.e. actual E) floating around, you can pay €10-15 each, or maybe doen to about €7 each for ten.

Everyone is getting those bloody Piperazine based pills these days for like a euro each, and thinking they're getting E lol

Coke is still mad expensive though.

Typically a 100 bag is about 1.1/1.2g, but depending, you could probably get an ounce for around €700.

A gram goes for about €80 on overage, but sometimes cheaper. Buyin in bulk is the only way if there's a few of ye doin it.

I would have started around 98, early 2000s I was paying €5, or less if you bought 100 of them. Not that they where any good at that price but that's what we where paying in Galway.
