Good software for taking video from youtube etc.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a piece of software that I could use to take bits of video from youtube. I am currently using CamStudio but that doesn't seem to give me a clear picture and there is a lot of distortion on both the audio and the picture. Any help on the subject would be appreciated.

the free real player is really good for it, it gives you aa 'download this video' button above the video & after gives you the option to convert it to other formats.
