Norton update

    Hey.....I have norton anti virus on my windows vista I got an update saying my computers Avast will expire in 4 days and I should update it however the 4 days have expired and it still looks ok:confused:


    Does this happen much .....what happens if I dont update my anti virus I have had this anti virus for the last 2 years and I never had a problem will my computer be ok ??

    Anti-virus definitions go out of date in about 8 hours, so the longer you leave the updates, the more out-of-date your definitions will be,and the more likely you will be to become infected with a virus.

    However - you shouldn't (ever) be running 2 AV packages at the same time. From your post you're saying you have Norton and Avast running on the same box. Get rid of one of them ASAP. I.e. ditch Norton as it's a resource hogging P.o.S. and keep Avast.

    If Avast reports that your registration period is out of date (IIRC it only lasts 1 year) just re-register. It's free so why not?
