What I want to know is. If I do get one from Belfast and something goes wrong with it, will Apple Ireland look at it or will I have to go back to Belfast?

There is a 1 year "International" warrenty with all Apple products.

    Cool :D

So what time are people heading out on the 24th? I live in the midlands, so it would take about 3 hours for me to get to Belfast.

the apple site says that micro sims cannot be switched from ipad to iphone 4 and vice versa- says they wont work? How come? Are they a different type of micro sim?

I wouldn't head up to belfast to early, it will be jammers in the apple store...let all the fuss die down, then head up..

Hmm I guess I will leave at about 7am or 8am. Father in law is going to drive.

I guess we will all be cutting our sim cards to fit till they release micro sims in Ireland.:D

No, there isn't. iPhone has to be returned to the country of purchase. iPad T&C say you "MAY" be asked to return to country of purchase as well.

    16GB gone as well .

No more pre orders for sim free iPhone 4's for the whole of the UK.

Makes me nervous that they will give away my preorder if I'm not there at 8am sharp. :(

    Hardly, it clearly states :
''Please note that your reservation will be held until close of business on June 24.''

If you seek service in a country that is not the country
of original purchase, you will comply with all applicable export laws and regulations and be
responsible for all custom duties, V.A.T. and other associated taxes and charges. Where
international service is available, Apple may repair or exchange defective products and parts
with comparable products and parts that comply with local standards. In accordance with
applicable law, Apple may require that you furnish proof of purchase details and/or comply
with registration requirements before receiving warranty service. Please refer to the
accompanying documentation for more details on this and other matters on obtaining
    warranty service."

Under EU law the above means they have to stand over any warranty from other member states.:)

Doesn't look like it. The 3GS is showing up at the same price on the Education store.

where does it say that? I checked the forum and the mod stated that the micro sims were for prepay broadband only, and so may not work in the iphone 4..

    Source?

I'm reading quite the opposite. Microsims are mobile broadband only and will not work on iPhone 4.

Anyone else here getting the Pre-Pay one and plan on just unlocking?

We hoping for a jailbreak and unlock a few days later or can we get unlocked by the network after a €€€ topup?

    http://forums.o2online.ie/forums/showthread.php?10200-MicroSIM-availability/page5

The story is: The micro-sim is just a mini-sim with the edges cut off. Where people are getting confused is O2 are saying that micro-sims are not interchangeable between iPhone 4 & iPad. So if its originally set up for iPad you'll get data services only, set up for iPhone 4 you'll get iPhone services.;)

I think I'd sooner pay the Apple rate on the website, I can't see there being a huge difference in price.. And even if it was 100 notes, the SIM free would still be the better option.

Yes, they do - so buy in Italy, return to Italy; not contravening any European laws there. Here is the bit from their own Warranty info on the iPhone 3Gs:
"Apple may restrict service to the country where Apple or its authorized distributors originally sold the hardware product," And with the iPhone they have done exactly that, from the original right through to the 3G and 3Gs. No doubt iPhone 4 will be exactly them same. Plenty on this website can testify to it.

I bought N-Ireland. Worse case 2 hour drive. I can live with that.:)

BTW folks O2 doing a bit of a U-turn on the sims now stating their micro's are only PAYG data. So out with the scissors:eek::D:p
