This I read somewhere on this thread about an app for a jailbroken iPad that prevents Safari from constantly refreshing as you switch between tabs?

There's an app or two on the apple app store that support proper tabbed browsing. I'm using Atomic web browser and it's great. 99 cents it cost.

Not part of a jailbreak solution I know, but having proper tabbed browsing is great and something I'm sure will come in an update of Safari.

I'm using iCabMobile for full featured tabbed browsing without the annoying refreshes. Works a treat.

Anyone tried tvcatchup for iPad? Has most of the UK free view channels streaming live. Quality isn't great but it's free so worth a look.

*Edit*. OP let me know if I'm taking this thread off topic as I seem to be using your thread as a general iPad thread. There's no other thread to put them in at the moment.

So i've just signed up for BlackVPN's global package and am eager to get a range of things people are using the US and UK servers for.

    So far I'm aware of:

    ABC Player app
    Pandora
    BBC iPlayer
    TVCatchup

I know Hulu won't work at the moment, and I'm also aware of Netflix but I'm not bothered with subcription or paid for services yet.

So, are there any other must-have free services on the US or UK servers?

thanks mate. think i'm having several blonde moments tonight! (no offence to intelligent blondes! ;) )

No iPlayer app: you go to the website and save it as an icon to the home screen.

    TVCatchup won't work with BlackVPN.

Don't mean to hijack the thread folks but seeing as most people in this one seem to have an iPad I was wondering if anyone is getting freezes during video playback? It has happened to me during YouTube and vimeo play. After reading several forums it seems to be a hardware issue. Any thoughts?

Link to Apple forum discussing issue.

Just an update to this if anyone's interested in the future: spoke with Apple and after carrying a restore and trying several wifi and router fixes I told them I was still having the problem and they are replacing the unit for me no quibbles. Their customer service is fantastic.

As far as the iPad is concerned that's pretty much it for now. Of course on your pc or Mac you have Hulu and all the tv networks pages.

That's great news. Where did you buy it? Have you to post it off?

What happened when you tried? Worked fine for me last night. Tried a few different channels. Pic quality isn't great but watchable on some stuff. I just signed up and away I went.

Hmmm. Let me try again, maybe I cocked up and chose the wrong VPN.

A friend picked up 2 in Orlando back in May. Not posting it but have to go to Belfast yo pick new one up. They were going to collect and return but by going to the shop I'll know I get myself a new one

Yes, you're right, it is working for me now. I can't have got the wrong VPN last time because I tried the iPlayer in the same session (which worked), so it must have just been TVCatchup's new beta iPad page on the day that was in it.

    Brilliant.

Belfast is an amazing shop, never had service like it. They have swapped out a MacBook Air not bought there, exchanged a BT keyboard, repaired out-of-warranty MacBooks for free, done the same for a Mac mini, listened to my woes and just given me a brand-new one instead with a new warranty up to 01/11.

    Retail done right.

Yep must say I agree with this. Excellent to deal with. Swapped by MacBook pro for a brand new one last year.
