did Labour **** up the country ?? - i thought it was Ahern and Cowen and their mates in Anglo and the Irish Nationwide and whoever else was in those Galway race tents - even now we're still chucking the odd billion here and there to these basket cases

    ps nice one Eamonn G.

Excuse me... Ahern and Cowen and their mates in Anglo and the Irish Nationwide and whoever else was in those Galway race tents created a new Ireland of unprecedented confidence & ability, a new Ireland on the bleeding edge of technology innovation... blah blah blah....

Anyone for a Labour/FF coalition again? Ahhhhhhhhh.... those were the days...

I wanted to be a Program Manager when I grew up...

Do Labour not get paid or what?

Yeah there were lots of **** ups along the way but what are we going to do to fix it?

Believe me I'd love to have the answer, but I don't. No more than FF, FG, Labour or anyones else.

I genuinely pity the next Government elected in if it's not FF. The will have some weight on their shoulders.

the most entertaining tv news i saw this year was when Eamon G. accused Brian C. of economic treason - red rags and bulls - maybe he hit a nerve or some truth

He should have gone the whole hog and told Cowan to join SF while he was at it and run his real colours up the mast seeing as how he was out to destroy "The State".

That would be interesting politics, follow through for Gods sake!

Basically we're all fu*ked if there was an election in the morning.

We're all fu*ked if there isn't, given the track record of the corrupt incompetents in charge at the moment.

Why is it that nobody was raising concerns regarding the Economic policies 4 or 5 years ago??

FFS rents on Grafton Street were higher than that of New Bond Street in London at one stage!!

We seemed to be building on every bit of green space available at the time, why were their no calls of is this level of development sustainable?

Why were their calls for stamp duty to be lowered further rather than actually raising it?

I think lots were... but back then there was a lot of shouting down using phrases like: the old begrudgery lingers on, Ireland is a vibrant economic success, we should be proud of all we are achieving & all we have achieved, buy now, pay nothing until September 2009... und so weiter.

Because the banks were handing out money like it was diseased, silly :D

Look it very easy for us all to look back & point out the obvious failings.

But is there anyone here that would take on the job of Minister for Finance or Taoiseach? Honestly?

Labour want to reverse the levies applied to our bloated and inefficient public service and instead increase income tax across the board; thereby further hitting the private sector who have already taken an almighty hammering in pay. Those of us who still have jobs of course. That's reason enough for me to ensure I don't vote for them.

Fine Gael and Labour have no desire to be in power right now; there have been a number of times when they could have put serious pressure on this government but they just went through the motions.
Fianna Fail, on the other hand, are simply hoping to get through this, cover for themselves and their buddies in the banking/financial sector and ensure that they'll all be financially secure in the future.
They don't care how much damage they do as long as the country doesn't collapse completely; which is still entirely possible.
If there is any kind of a shell of a country left by the time of the next general election, Fianna Fail will be quite happy to be kicked out of power, leave Fine Gael/Labour to deal with the mess they've created and look to rebuild their popularity through feeding off the unpopularity of a government facing an impossible situation.
They can then pat themselves on the back for pulling off yet another 'stroke' and on our little country will limp, same as it ever was, until doing the wrong thing continuously finally, inevitably leads to a complete collapse.

Don't get me wrong, I can't stand FF, I think you are a Labour supporter, so you will know this, can you clarify if Labour were raising concerns regarding the Property boom/public sector pay etc... prior to the last election?

How is anyone to know whether they did or not when all that goes on in the Dail is scoring points off each other?

When whatever party does good they get **** off the opposition.
When whatever party does bad they get **** opposition.

I honestly do not care who is in power once they actually do the best they can so don't think I'm defending FF here. There's plenty of deadwood to be cut away in that party as there is in the rest of them.

Joan Burton definitely was. It might be her voice, though, as no-one pays much attention to her.

That's all dandy. We know from that they know how to spend money and create bureaucracy. Now, how do they intend making us all money, if you're not a Government employee that is.

A Labour minister for finance was creating 1,000 jobs a week while finance minister between 1994-1997. Labour know how to create private sector jobs.

Can you recall if Labour planned to scrap Stamp duty during the 2007 campaign for first time buyers and restructure it for other buyers?

Anyone wanting to know why Labour shouldn't be in the next government (not that we have a choice) can run along to the RTE website and look at the recent appearence on The Frontline by Howlin - the man could not answer a question because Labour have done everything they can to promise no cuts to anyone.

They are paying the populist card to it's full - they are doing everything they can to avoid making any committments whatsoever, that aren't tax raises on the private sector.

Any idea how big the sample was for this survey, are we talking proper survey or womens beauty products advertising size?

Regardless of this, FG are the party that f*cked up a golden opportunity to actually use the good economic times & money to do something worthwhile with the country, rather than p*ss all the benefits down the swanny.

The simple fact is, that it's time for a change.

    It's a well-respected poll.

However, the results are altered because it excludes the undecideds - that means that a large amount FF and FG voters could have decided not to vote in the next election, and it would give the same pattern as this (they go down, and proportionally the other parties rise).

It's more likely there has been an actually swing to Labour though, as then Sinn Fein should have gone up as well, but tbh I think it could be a rogue poll.
