Be it either a pickup or a mic, plus a preamp.

I've had a look at a few options already, and been disappointed with the results. I want to amplify my acoustic fiddle for performance with a pub band, so I want as natural a sound as possible, full and hopefully free of feedback using a decent preamp.

What do you people reckon of Fishmans and Barcus Berrys, or even SM57s and AKG C 411?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

I guess it depends on your budget but Schertler seem to do a lot of transducers for strings. Fishman, Shadow, Headway etc also make similar products.

Check out LR Baggs too. If you're Dublin based, head to Crehans in Drumcondra - they were great when I was getting mine. I didn't have a clue what I should have been going for. They'll also fit it, which is nice.
