I see me in that Villalobos video a couple times! Along with a bunch of randomers dotted about the place there that we ended up hanging out with at some stage!

That was the best thing about the whole festival i think. We went down with 3 people and had a good "core group" of about 10 by then end, not to mention the countless others who featured at some stage! I found everyone to be on an even better "comradery" buzz than EP or any other I've been to.

Pity you didn't get a vid of Japansese Popstars - i'd never seen them before and thought they were absolutely class!

The neutronix tent was a bit of a madhouse alright though - we sat on the hill facing it for a while, and in the space of 5 mins saw a penny farthing roll by, followed by superman rowing a boat, followed by two scarecrows (well, lads who had stuffed themselves full of hay)! Lots of people "massaging energy balls" too - but i like it, they add to the whole thing!

I hope it doesnt grow too much next year - perfect size now. Well, at least I hope it doesn't get bloated with people who aren't really "into it". They can stay at Oxegen.

The one thing i think it could do with is a proper chillout area. I know it has the two lake areas, but somewhere you can hangout and observe everything, without having just to pick a random spot on the grass to plonk yourself.

I had only just got this tune last week too: Butch - No Worries. On Cecile, great label

Was there many scumbags or crustys at it? Last year that ruined it, well that and pysc-trance! would of loved to see riccardo, looked brilliant

Had a belter of a weekend alright!
Got down around 5pm on Friday and had a pretty long wait to get in even though we had bought tickets online. Then the campsite was already pretty full and just by fluke we managed to get a spot near the big tree with room for our three tents.
A group of lads I know got down early Saturday morning and they had to go to the very back of the campsite which was a nightmare coming back in the dark as there was no walkways past the top of the hill so you had to zig-zag through everyone else's campsites, tripping over tents as you went.
Had a good night on Friday despite the rain and got everything dry again in no time on Saturday. Sat and Sun were savage, amazing weather, really good buzz and actually managed to get a few hours kip every night. Crashed around 9am on the Monday morning and woke up at 2.30 or so when it was pretty miserable taking down the tents in the lashings of rain and was nasty weather for the drive home. Forgot to bring my camera down out of the campsite so didn't get much pictures.
Didn't see any hassle at all, saw a few scaldy looking chaps but there wasn't any bother out of any of them. For the people saying the Psytrance ruined their festival, that's pretty petty, there was a whole stage for it so it was very easy to avoid if it's not your thing.
Would also have liked to see more dance down by the lake, maybe swapping the liquid tent's acts with the ones who were down by the lake? Apart form Villalobos of course!
Great weekend and will be there again next year.
Anyone spot any of the sets anywhere on the web yet?

There were quite a lot of scummers at it, I thought considerably more than last year but others disagree. Loads of tracksuit wearing nackers with those 'fishing hats' - if you know the ones - instantly brands anyone as a tosser. No real hassle that I saw thankfully. There were a few crusty's but I have zero problem with them in fairness - usually nice chilled people.

Actually the one thing I forgot to mention, it was by far the biggiest mashfest I have ever experienced in my life, I'd say the number of people who were not partaking, was a miniscule percentage. Only say a few people in really sorry states most others were flying but loving it. Seemed to be loads of everything around - wohoo, the good old days are back! One of my mates got his goodies taken off him at the security but he kinda deserved it as he was fying and attracting atention to himself. Guards and security had a presence but were very chilled. I've never seen to much blatent open air drug taking!!! I even met one randomer who was buying a burger and took all his **** out of his pocket my mistake - some undercover lads came over, asked him a few questions but took his stuff and let him go. He bumped into them later that night in one if the tents and they were mad out of it - they were even laughing at him how they had been enjoying all his pills, and, get this, they even gave him one back!!!

Jaysus, that's mad, I hope they showed him ID and all that and they weren't just two lads taking the piss?

Yeah he saw their badges. Actually 2 of my other mates look totally like cops. One even had a big Maglite torch, we were saying how they totally could have found a few innocent looking people and totally steal all their goodies. You'd have to be a total pr1ck to do that though

    What a weekend!

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The highlights for me were Infected mushroom, space tribe, and pretty much all of the sunday evening/monday morning at the psytrance stage. The vibe and energy was really something special.

Does anyone know the band who played on the psy stage saturday night? They had mad tribal drumming, guitars, reverbs, diggereedoos, horns, all meshed into a lovely psychedelic sound. Kerazzzzyyy! Those guys + LSD were spectacular!

    :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Overall, the vibe was 100% better than last year, with far more chilled out security and cops, and nicer more natural surroundings.

I hope it stays around the same size next time. I think they got it just right this year. (Apart from the big top and liquid tent being too close)

    Roll on next year!

Was a whopper weekend alright, defo one of the best weekends of my life. My only regret was sleeping through Zion Train blowing the speakers! LTJ bukem was definitely my highlight (travelled to london to see him in fabric so was amazed when I heard he was playing life), probably followed by Intinn (the reggae band with the harp). Would have nice to have seen a little more dance music at the lake during the day, mainly ambient stuff like last year, but they had some really amazing bands playing there so did not mind. I hear a lot of them are playing KnockinStockin so will defo be heading there.

If your looking for some ltj bukem I would defo recommend you get his fabric live.46 album and journey inwards. Highlight Tribe were the lads with the tribal drumming, prob the best psy-trance act, although I did miss infected mushroom and astral projection. I do agree that if you do not like psy-trance it would have been hard to avoid it, given it was at the centre of the festival as opposed to the end like last year, but seeing as i live on the stuff, it was not a problem!

had a brillant time myself.came home sunday as had family stuff to do.
the location was good, the weather was brillant, the line up brillant.
met some great people from all over the world.
it helped that i knew a few of the security lads=never checked me and allowed me n my mates to bring plenty of cans into music area.
there was a few scummer ****ers about but there always is,never seen any trouble.
was a bit slow getting in friday and campsite could have being a bit bigger
apart from that it was perfect.
IMO last year was a small bit better.
jap popstars should have played more than 1hr.

Wow, what a weekend! Definitely the best festival/event/weekend ever for me, I've never had to much fun! The weather was savage and totally made the weekend, tiny bit of rain but it was grand, the rest of the time u could be in shorts most of the time, I got a bit burnt even! I got down early - campsite was great, pretty small though, we were all set up by 2pm and out enjoying the sun with some beers. I literally only slept once from Friday until last night (God Bless Xanex), was just having too much of a laugh to go to bed!

Festival was generally very well organised apart from a few hickups. Was a bit more spread out than last year but still only a 10 min walk from car to campsite and 5 min walk from campsite to main area. The biggest fcukup was that they were supposed to open the main area at 5, they did not end up opening it till 6.30. Big angry crowd waiting for 90 mins. Our slot was from 6-8pm. The poor bastard before us played to a completely empty tent - and he told me he came down just for that set and had to go back to Dublin straight after. They opened them some time after we started our set - I had a small rush of people as they had just been let in - but it was a bit disappointing we did not have more of a crowd. I still had great fun though!

The Big Top Tent and the Liquid Tent were FAR FAR too close together, if you were even slightly outside either one the soundclash from the other tent was totally headwrecking. Absolute rookie mistake. There was loads of quality music over the weekend. I've definitely never enjoyed so much overall diversity in my life. I'm normally a 99% house & techno head but I was absolutely loving all the Regge, D&B, breaks etc - apart from PsyTrance of course as that is purely for people with serious problems with their brain. There was however more than its fair share of sh1t music too. The Big Top seemed to be banging out way too much noisey electro house and fidget etc, bit of hard dance even. Dave DeValera's set was very good but wasn't feeling most other stuff in there really. Apart from the last night obviously - Chris Leibing I thought was great although many others were not that impressed. LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad were unbelievable, totally stole the show. I literally want to start buying some drum & bass after this lol. Our own Exceutive Steve played a blinder of a set with Bonz on the Sat night - that Funktion One in the Liquid tent would rearrange your insides!

I would have liked more dance music down by the lake, savage venue for it. Villalobos was very good but I did not have the energy to dance really so we just chilled down by the water. Did anyone see the glamor model who had a photoshot in her underwear afterwards? Crazy...

For me however though, some of the best fun you can have at a festival is just setting around by the tents in the sun (or at night) - getting fukked up and talking complete bollocks with a load of mates and a randomer or two! My voice was almost completely gone last night from the mad chats we had. We discussed Religion, Polotics, History and god knows what else for hours and hours, love it. The slagging was rife as well, absolutely no holds barred completely ripping on everyone. There was plenty of freaks around who would come by our tents and try to sit down and chat - you had to be pretty dam aggressive and tell them to fukk off otherwise you get stuck with them for hours. Did meet some really sound randomers and we had great craic for hours. There was a brilliant little rave in the carpark on the Monday morning after all the music was over, some lad had decks and a big ass speake on his car and there were about 60 people dancing around. Sun came up then and we just chilled until about 3pm before going home, not like EP wehre they kick u out at 12, a great end to a magical weekend :D

Here are a few video's that sum up the weekend:

Clips of Villalobos by the Lake:

    Jugglers

    Chris Leibing:

    LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad:

    Devil Music:

    Good review and all that
    BUT
apart from PsyTrance of course as that is purely for people with serious problems with their brain.

    is absolutely ridiculous

Psy Trance is global and just because you don't like it saying something as bizzare as this is well
    ridiculous:eek:

Psy-trance can suck my balls. Its the most predictable rubbish going. Its the same song being played over and over again.

Excellent weekend had though, but i did head home early on Sunday couse im getting to old for this lark.

thoroughly enjoyed myself as well, took a notion and went down early on Saturday morning with no tent and no tickets but got that sorted out and Saturday was unbelievable, weather was a beaut, actually got a tan!
Villalobos down by the lake was amazing and something ill never forget (despite a few technical glitches!), liebing and the popstars were the other stand outs for me, but there was serious tunes on the trance stage around 4 on Sunday as well. stumbling into some dubstep around 3 or 4 saturday night in the small white tent was a great surprise also!
Didnt see any rows or trouble and everyone was so friendly(its the only time my yellow high tops got universal approval! ). only went down with 2 friends but ended up with good gang of friends from neighboring tents.

had a few cans stole from my tent sunday evening but it couldnt wreck my buzz from a great weekend, could have done with an atm on site though, the lack of one resulted in a very questionable drive to the closest one in town!

cant wait for next year already!

Yes i do, i used to like Goa Trance in the 1990's and for a number of years after i just didn't really bother with much of it as i was too pre occupied with other music until i went to Life 3 years ago in Galway (the best location IMO)and heard some again and thought it was brilliant, it's quite similar to Acid Techno in some respects, im amazed so many people slating this music, you do realise the promoters behind Life are all big into Psy Trance, the main stage @ Life is always Psy as well, it does attract primarily crusty types but i used to know loads of them from the Squat parties techno scene in the 1990's.

Easier said than done when Neutronyx are involved in so much stuff, not to mention that they're the only thing on after about 2am at the Picnic. Caught about 80 people dancing around a stereo hooked up to a car battery in the woods last year about a mile away on my way up. Decided that Psy-Trance was *still* a load of bollacks, and passed them on my way back about an hour later to find a solid 200 odd people around the same tinny stereo.

Couldn't agree more! delighted others feel as I do!
I like all styles of music from techno-classic-opera-reggae but jesus psyc trance!
    PUKE

And as for the comment about not going to a trance gig to avoid pysc trance!!! So nobody should head to see van burren, van dyk, woods, hardwick etc...........for fear of pysc trance!

Yes, but without this psytrance promoter, there'd be no Life Festival, no music past 2am at EP etc. No one has to like psytrance, but Jesus, it gets fúcking irritating when people seem to have to make a comment dissing psytrance about any event Neutronyx are heavily involved in.

You mightn't like the type of music they primarily promote, but Neutronyx are one of the best things the Irish dance scene has going for it right now. To me, it's the height of disrespect to be saying that psytrance is for people with something wrong with their brains etc. in reviews or comments about Life, and it really goes strongly against the whole ethos of what Life is all about.

Anyway, without a shadow of a doubt Hilight Tribe were the best act of the weekend. While I was annoyed initially at them being delayed for so long (kept running back to the Neutronyx stage between 9 and 12), it was much better that they played in the dark to more people. It was great to see Astral Projection too, been waiting a long time to see em. Set was a bit short though.

Outside of the Neutronyx stage, LTJ Bukem was the highlight for me. Was in the Big Top with my friends, wasn't into Liebing at all, and was crashing hard after 2 days of heavy partying, and then this awesome DN'B act comes on. I went mental. What a way to end the weekend!

There is loads of music I don`t like or get, but what is the point bitching about it man? I think it`s great we have such a musically diverse festival in Ireland. Nice size crowd, and half the price of the bigger festies. The overall vibe was really positive and can only be a good thing to bring people closer together.

'peace, love, unity, respect' is the motto of the festival, and it seems to be working! :)
